Disable Spotify?

When I plug in my phone with USB sometimes the Spotify app opens on my phone with the driving warning. Is there a way to totally disable the app from starting? Or even just removing the app from the car. I have an iphone but haven't paid the $300 activation fee for CarPlay yet, so I could use that later down the road, but the Spotify app is just annoying.

Sorry, dumb question - isn't Carplay free? Enabled via a software update?

From what I was told over the phone by BMW is that it was never activated by original owner and there is a $300 activation fee. If a software update is all I need I would gladly do it. How do I go about the update?

This sometimes happens if the app (Spotify, Pandora, etc) is open when you get in the car. Easiest fix is to close your apps before getting in.

I've also never had it happen when the phone was locked when I got in the car.
