It’d come down to the features for me. A well equipped 840 would be preferable to a stripped 540 and vice versa. I find the 8 gorgeous but as said earlier, I eliminated it due to lack of massaging seats. It has power rear window sunshades and heated armrests over the 5 though. Goodness knows what BMW’s rationale for this is.

I don’t find the massaging seats worth it but I get that’s different person to person.

The days when my back is semi tweaked, heated seat on max and lumbar massage L3 is otherworldly. Otherwise the massage is on the weaker side although on long drives the lower body activation does help with fatigue.

Shopping around for the last few weeks, it's crazy how few people paid for Bowers and Wilkins and a bit disappointing how few people optioned for the Cooling/Tire "M Tech package". A little spoiled with my 5 having literally every option but night vision and rear heated seats I suppose, but damn no one really opted to get these things loaded.

I have noticed that as well. You’d think there would be a bunch of them fully loaded.

Not sure what the used market is like atm, but for their new prices, I’d take an m5 over an m850 without question. Way easier to find them heavily optioned and they come with more stuff standard.

Handling and lack of road feel is one of the knocks on it. You and I have discussed the 8 GC. I just don’t love the look, especially the ass. Just reminds me of the 6-series GC which it replaced.

Yeah we talked about the 8’s a few times. I want to love it so bad. But there’s also something weird about it. But it does make a statement in person, whether you like it or don’t like it you definitely notice it.

Also liked the 6GC, was one bad dealership away from buying one before getting my G30 instead. Hoping I find this 8 before Thanksgiving or Christmas at the latest.
