Supp my bimmer fam,

I know i am late to the party but i'm looking for some help on the Android Auto topic. I only see apple car play as an option. what are going to be my best way on getting Android Auto to my car if possible? help ya boy out i need that Spotify app in the whip.

It is available natively on the 2020 through a software update at the dealer. I have it on mine.

adhrp my production date 9/24/19 but my car is 2020. Bmw dont see to know. Is the update the one found online?

My car's production date is 07/2019 (MY20) and the dealer just updated the software and the Android Auto was loaded onto my iDrive (I knew that it is available via dealer software update, so no surprises there). Not familiar with online updates as I don't bother to keep up with that stuff, but from what I have heard, it has to be done by the dealer for the MY20, unlike MY21 onwards.

I should add that my car was under warranty so the update was free. Out of warranty, the dealer might charge you for it unless it is done as a necessary part of some service.

Maybe try a different dealer and see if they'll do it for you.

There are a variety of TSBs that can be used to push them to do the update.

Affecting features like Gesture control and Remote 3D View (if your car is equipped with the Surround View Cameras).

I've had updates done to cover those, but they were all under warranty. My factory warranty just expired last month and my BMW ESC is in effect now. I'm not sure if they'd cover them under the ESC.

My dealer wanted $250 to do it OOW. But you could probably get BMW NA to step in and cover it if you wanted. As the whole situation is a bit stupid. Had them do that early on before I knew about TSBs.

Also, in the update you'll get native Spotify support in iDrive which will leverage the car's LTE connection.

Yeah i need to get it to the dealer monday i might still have a warranty. Im going to look in tsb now.
