Not the box or bottle I remember so it will be interesting to see how it tastes. I don't like scotch too much but I love me some Irish whiskey.

They also had a bottle of Readbreast 21 which I have heard is good as well, but have never tried it. The Midleton VR is spendy @ $220, but the Redbreast is $349. Might give it a go if it is tasty. Anyone had the Redbreast 21?

I have a bottle of RB21, I’ve been saving it for a special occasion and should be opening it sometime within next few months I hope.
I love all of their other offerings so I’m sure it’s great.

It’s very good, I’d place it right behind their 12 Year Cask Strength.

Pass on Jefferson’s - too much spice
Pass on True Blue - too much maple syrup and chocolate
JD SB BP can almost be lit on fire but is extremely complex - chocolate, tobacco, vanilla, light fruits
Dalmore is a middle of the road, very smooth scotch, not enough bite for my taste

Not pictured is the Old Ezra 7 I picked up which is a solid, spicy barrel strength whiskey with hints of vanilla and the other handful of bottles I killed a few months back.
I have a couple bottles of ER I’ll gladly trade you for that Dalmore!

Kaiyo The Sheri and Cask #541 came this week. I like the cask #541 slightly better than the #543 due to a slightly better finish.

The Sheri is pretty complex. Need more time to taste it and in a proper glass, which should arrive tomorrow.

Anyone else seeing prices going up? My Jameson is up to $29.99/btl now. I was paying $19.99 at Binny's BC (before Covid). Even the local store had it at $27 or so. Now it's basically $30 a pop. I don't begrudge them the increase. They have to survive and I'm glad I can still buy it. Just wondering if it's only a local thing or more widespread.

Probably the recent drop in currency exchange for pounds - I think it got down close to 1:1 for a bit there. I haven't been tracking whisky prices closely lately, but in the past I found prices were very sensitive to that. It became my rationale to buy ahead by the case on things I love, since prices go up around 5% even w/o those spikes (in manmath terms, it counts as investing in commodities ). If you are near a state line, look at their pricing too - sometimes it varies considerably. It is the case here with VT, when I add in their sporadic sale prices on Laphroaig and Ardbeg, I can save more than $10 a bottle compared to NY pricing. Would be worth the trip even on the thruway, but going thru the mountains makes it a very worthwhile excursion.

There are tariffs on alcohol now. Pretty much all scotch or foreign whisky has gone up ~25-30% around me.

That is a great route, but I've only gotten to ride it once (it is on my list for a repeat visit this year). I am in Syracuse, so coming the other direction into Bennington, through the Adirondacks and usually with about 8 trips up and down Rte 10.

Teeling Single Malt

I grabbed a bottle of the Teeling Single Malt after falling in love with their Single Grain. I hear it’s even better than the Single Grain.
Cheers!

My Dad had a bottle so got to try some at home. We used to get into his liquor cabinet in college but that was the one bottle I didn’t touch. Still got accused of drinking a bunch of it anyway. I should have just enjoyed it since I was gonna get blamed for it anyways

If you can find a JD SB Store Pick, those are usually another step above the non store pick versions.

The ER, EC, FR and WR are all pretty similar in my opinion. Nothing super stand out and just good everyday pours.

One of my favorite budget pours right now is actually Early Times BiB.

Based on what you like I think you would enjoy Makers Marks Cask Strength, Stagg Jr, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and just about any of the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof offerings (if you can find C919 that one is standout but they are all good).
Recently upgraded the collection and got an ECBP A120, Old Forester 1920, EH SB, McKenna 10 and Weller SR. The ECBP and 1920 are my favorites of the collection. Great juice.

I killed a bottle of Maker's Cask before that picture was taken - also great sauce.

I've heard a lot of good things about the ET BiB... May snag one next.

Nice selection! I'd recommend adding WT Rare Breed and/or Russell's Reserve SiB to your lineup since you like the higher proof stuff.

I’m a little south in the Hill Country but I don’t mind a nice drive through the HC to Austin.
I have one Full bottle and I think the other is damn close, I’ll double check and PM you.
Cheers!

If you liked the A120, the C919 is supposed to be even better. I have one but have not cracked it open yet to try. I also liken the OF 1910 to the 1920 but the flavors come out a lot stronger due to the lower proof. The EHT BP is delicious.
