Will Dinan be capped for 2020 M550i?

With over 520 HP on the new M550i, will Dinan be forced to keep the HP levels at 600, the same as on pre 2020 models, so as not to exceed the base M5 power and to not piss BMW off?

Just wondering...

don't think so. Dinan is it's own separate company with zero ties to BMW, I don't see them not developing and selling something just to not piss BMW off. With that said though, Dinan currently does not have any vehicles with the N63TU3 so I am sure it will be a while until anything is released for it.

Honestly - from what I can see RaceChip is only advertising 45 more HP above stock for the 2020. I suspect with the added increase in HP, the high watermark is much lower now - thus natural limitation due to a baseline increase.

How long did it take for Dinantronics to arrive for N63TU2?

not sure. it was ready when the 2018 M550i came out(stage 1, not the elite v2), but that is because of the 750i as that came out before then.

Well, I am ready to purchase as soon as Dinan releases. Hopefully they can let us know on the timeline sometime soon.

luckily you are in vegas, so will be available for your market as soon as it's released, but the 2020 M550i should be fast enough, but looks like you are coming from a CTS-V so yea I can see why you want some more power haha.

The Elite V2 for the N63TU2 is still non-carb legal for California, SMH. It's been over a year...

That's good. Hope they do a good job with this one too.

Definitely getting it once it is out. One for my M550i, the other for X5 M50i.

Why would Dinan care about pissing off BMW? They are not partners.

Dinan is pretty much like any other tuning company at this point

Because BMW dealers carry them, and there's still some BMW warranty to be had?

There is no BMW warranty to be had. Dinan covers expense when BMW doesn't. The relationship between Dinan and BMW has been deteriorating. The dealers here have stopped installing Dinan products and are no longer Dinan dealers.

You lose your BMW warranty if you get Dinan. Even if your dealer offers it

This just seem to go back and forth... I guess I didn't know where it's at this time around.

Still remember my dealer installing it back in the day on my B7 and everything was cool. Still see dealers selling Dinan products locally, so thought the warranty was still there too...

I just remember last May when getting my 2019 M550 when I turned in my F10 M5 and the sales guy walked over a Dinan pamphlet. I said ok let me break the car in and I'll do it. Well went to do it and braman didn't support dinan anymore. That's how I learned about the relationship going away

But you get the matching Dinan warranty -- which might be cumbersome if your local dealer is not supporting Dinan.

Of course, if you get their cheaper products, you get the product warranty and not much else (no warranty on your car from BMW or Dinan):
https://www.dinancars.com/warranty/

And there seems to be a fair number of dealers listed as supporting Dinan (except only one dealer in the Dinan home state of Alabama!)
