Over the air map updates

It's that time of year to renew my ConnectedDrive subscription.

When I purchased my car, it came with a complete subscription but I don't plan to renew a lot of the services but I'm wondering if it's worth paying the additional 70eur for OTA updates for maps. Do they really make a difference?

It just seems mad that for 150eur you get what you need and to have OTA updates and real time parking (never used), you have to pay 70eur, and then concierge services on top are another 100eur.

I have actually used the concierge quite a bit, but not really fussed if I don't have it.

So in a nutshell, are the OTA updates worth the extra or just stick with USB updates instead?

That raises a question as to whether it's updates are independent of your subscription - I don't know the answer to that

Also worth noting that it's updates are just for small areas of a map and the full updates are via the usb method .

I only ever had 1 ota update which was shortly after picking up the car . None since but I have always updated the maps every quarter via usb.

It might also be worth checking to see if the map updates are tied to RTTI .

I need to check this myself as my car will be coming up to 3 years this summer and RTTI is a must have for me as it's saved many hours by avoiding traffic .

If rttti separate , map updates a personal choice as the roads don't change that much but obviously there will be changes somewhere. As well as roads the database will also contain speed limits which do seem to change more often so may be worth it for that potentially. Personal choice obviously.

Sounds like OTA updates are a bit of a waste of money.

The second level package includes RTTI which is what I use mostly. Plus package seems like the best option....

I'm curious as to who even uses the on-street parking function?

only ever saw one update, declined it as was driving, never seen again. Usb is controlled and extensive and available 4 times a year
Rtti essential for me too
Can you not get individual services rather than packages?.
