brake issue

my wife drives a 2017bmw x1 msport, and I have a 17 g30 m sport.. I noticed that when I just touch her brakes the x1 stops and I mean now!! doing the same in my g30 not so much... it slows down then stops, nothing violent just a very polite stop.. is this a normal thing in the g30?

What brakes do they both have and are you comparing like with like (e.g. do they have the m-sport brakes or just the standard ones)?

I recently had an x2 courtesy car and I found the same thing. the brakes on that had more of an immediate bite and it gave the sense of better braking performance. I have put it down to the G30/31 being a heavier car and therefore the initial bite does not feel as strong

a) What you are experiencing in the 5 is normal.

b) I suspect that BMW over-assists the brakes in the X series cars. One could hypothesize that it's because there are more woman buyers for SUVs, but I don't want to go there...

I have noticed the same when I was given a loaner MB SUV a couple of years ago where I normally would get sedans (they were out of sedans as I'm not a huge fan of SUVs honestly). My feeling is they force harder braking on SUVs to counter issues they have with rollovers and etc.

Since I find the brakes on my 5 series more than adequate you can imagine how annoyed I was with the intensity in the SUV.

thanks guys for the input. both cars have the same brakes.. ie non m..... I think the x1 is driven a lot more aggressively than the s series, typically, that's my guess...
