You had track position with another Mercedes in P2 with an inferior car. What's the point of giving up position? To get on a soft tire and try to challenge VER on the same tire with a superior car? Mercedes should kept P1 and P2 and let VER fight to pass two Mercedes - he was likely going to do it anyway but Mercedes allowed it to be too easy. Allowing RUS to pit for softs leaves HAM out there vulnerable with a slower tire and a car.

I think Mercedes thought they would have P1 and P2 after the safety car but RUS made the last second call which they should have blocked and denied.

Lol only thing Rus got on Ham is he is young and willing to push a crappy car to the limit as that’s what he’s used to. Here recently as the car has gotten a little more refined, he’s behind on pace I think.

I already wrote when Max was pitting for reds, that it was the only right thing to do. Any tow he might get or not was not really important, it only made the inevitable overtaking easier/faster.

If it's 0.001 percent to win vs. giving up a P2 & P3 finish for a P2 & P4, I'm going for the small chance of winning especially this season where a one position finish in points doesn't mean much.

This was supposed to be a win as a team or lose a team. If you already made the call to keep HAM out there for the win, then RUS should have never been allowed to pit and give up support to HAM. HAM would not be as angry if RUS didn't pit and the result was still the same. Mercedes went with a risk but didn't even execute correctly at all. Once RUS came in for softs, their risk was already useless.

Within RB, when the race is on, no one can overrule Hannah Schmitz.....except the driver himself.

RUS clearly has the better tactical mind than Hammy.
I also thought it was a bit lame from Hammy to defend his place that much against RUS.... RUS was clearly a LOT faster; such a move could've easily ended in tears....MERC knows that first hand.

Max only coul've lost when something happened to him or his car. So either RUS or HAM had to ram him of the track.
And it isn't giving up P2 and P3 for P2 and P4: if RUS also stayed on worn mediums, LEC would have overtaken RUS too, so it would have been P3 and P4.

I don't think RUS would have liked that, as he is still in the fight for WDC P2.

At Spa I already said : MAX can win now all the remaining races in this season.

Yeah .Checo ran a bad QF and race . But actually everyone is outclassed by MAX ..

With just 6 races to go , we know already the '2022 World Champ !

That's stretch if you're using that pit stop call as proof. You're looking at it from an individual driver point of view which this situation is not. It's easy to make that call if you're going to finish anywhere from P2-P4. The Mercedes strategy/risk at that point in the race was to race for the win, period. This wasn't about trying to finish P2 & P3 because if that were the case, Mercedes would have pit both HAM and RUS and you would have ended up with a very similar result - P2 and P3, P3 & P4 or P2 and P4 which Mercedes was clearly not racing for until they allowed RUS to pit.

Mercedes as a team f--ked up period. At the end of the day, Mercedes' result is what everyone expected. The poor decision making at the end is the frustrating part - you plan for one thing but do the complete opposite.

The race strategist for RB did a great job. Safety yellows also helped, but race strategy was brilliant. RB just seemed to stay just a step ahead of Merc today. Max drove a great race, maintaining tires when he was out.

I felt a bit horrible for Ham. He should have at least had an opportunity to fight for podium. He should have had chance to pit during that safety car, got hung out to dry.

Ferrari……….lol
