I'm considering trading in my M-coupe for a new car, and it would definatly be an M3 ! So I figure I'll go with the latest, especially since it will have a BMW V8. Thats a no brainer for me. Now the big question is whether this car will handle like a BMW. I think it will, because bmw just can't afford to not make good handling cars anymore, whats everyones opinion? and any european members on this forum who have been able to testdrive this car yet ????

Sweet M Coupe. I used to own one just like it! Is that the Roosevelt Field parking lot? I have an uncanny ability to recognize parking lots

Technically speaking, it should definitely be better IMO. I'm not sure it's an improvement aesthetically though. I'll reserve judgment until I see it in person.

The only way I can see modern cars getting worse than previous generations is over-engineering. For example something can be over-engineered so much that the driver feels disconnected from the car and the car feels too automatic in everything it does. There's a fine balance between advancements in car engineering and taking too much away from the driver's experience and input. Hopefully this new 3 won't suffer from this. Judging from BMW's record, this probably won't be the case. Go BMW!

That doesn't seem to be true even tho it's bigger (still 50/50 weigth distribution). Car and Driver mag just had this to say about it: "The handling balance we have always admired in the 3-series remains one of its most enjoyable features." http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1 |

At least bmw improves dramatically on the 3-series. Even the second generation s2000 only got slight tweak here and there.

Doesn't anyone wish that they stopped making each new 3series bigger tho?.... i loved the size of the e36. BMW: keep making technical improvements, but start making these cars smaller!

Personally the "eyebrows" on the front headlights of the 5 still bug me. I think the front end of the E90 however is great. The taillights/backend I find the weakest desginwise, though I kind of like them now that they represent my own car.
At this point I think we know the E90 is a great car. I think its going to be an excellent seller. Its still an awesome performer and its gained a lot of the more upscale features of the 5. Actually its almost gone too gizmo happy, though luckily BMW largely allows you to opt out of the gadgets if you like. - Collin |

i agree, the e36 was - and still is a great car. the change to the e46 was BIG at least for me. it is a greater car. i am looking forward to driving one in the
range of the greatest 3 series - my very own 325 e90.

The greatest 3 non M right now is the 330i ZHP. Great proportions, handling, power, and looks. The greates M3 is the 1990 E30. That car was ahead of its time.

I wish the 3 would stop getting bigger, but that's where the 1 series comes in (although who knows when and what it'll look like)
The peak of 3 series design was the 1987 325e |

The E90 is the first BMW I've owned, so I have no basis for comparison (never even rode in another one). But, the new design is what got my attention and the test drives sold me. I love the car.
