I just took delivery of an ordered F31 M Sport with a 05/14 build date that includes the tech package. I have not been able to play video from my iPhone 5 or iPhone 4, both running iOS 7.1.1 through the USB port. There is no way to select for video under "other media" in the iDrive. In my 2011 F25 that I came out off, with enhanced USB and 6NR, I was able play video using an iPhone 4 media snap in adapter from the iPhone 4.
Additionally, my iPod Classic 160G is not staying connected to USB. it auto plays the first song title alphabetically for three seconds then it disconnects. I have seen other threads describing this same problem. Maybe there's also a compatibilty issue with the 2014 NBT? Again, in my 2011 F25, I didn't have any such connection issues except for occasional crashes. I'd reboot and it would be fine. Can someone please help me understand the video playing compatibility of the iPhone 4 and 5 with iOS 7 with the F31 NBT and how I can play video? I think I have the latest BMW software which is MN-002.038.015. I've tried many searches but I don't seem to have found an answer for this issue yet. I plan to code to enable video other than in park once I sort this out. It would be great also if I can get the iPod Classic to work too because I just like to have a large music library with me. |

Welcome to the NBT iPhone connectivity world! I've run into all the problems you mentioned. I have yet to solve the video issue. I honestly don't think it can be done at this time. I've tried everything. If you look on the BMWUSA site...somewhere....it even shows that tht feature is not available.
I have been able to get my Classic to work though after many tries. I'm not entirely sure what it was that made it eventually work, I had tried all kinds of stuff. It seems that once I got it to connect to iDrive it would stay connected through starting/stopping the car and moving back and forth between audio sources. Things I tried: - rebooting the Classic before connecting - changing out the USB cable - connecting the iPod while it was playing a song and the HDD was spinning - connecting iPod to iDrive but not selecting it as the source right away. It sync'd, dropped and sync'd again. Try those and see what happens. |

Video works just fine as long as you have the "media" snap-in adapter, an iPhone 4/s (5 with lightning will not work), and you code the following:
HU_NBT 3003 API_USB_VIDEO HU_NBT 3000 ENT_CODEC_XVCD HU_NBT 3000 ENT_CODEC_XVID HU_NBT 3000 ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT HU_NBT 3000 ENT_CODEC_OGG |

sorry, i have no idea why it's disabled but i can assure you it works just fine if you enable those codes...you might also want to code the handbrake stuff so you can watch while the car is moving...everything works great via old snap-in/old iPhone...since i now have an iPhone 5s, i'm use my old iPhone4 permanently in the 428i to show videos and podcasts

I'd love to learn how to code...but the prospect of bricking my car with less than 2k mi has me a little nervous. I've coded/hacked pretty much every other device I own but for all I could say "ah if I kill it, I'll just buy another". For my F30 I can't say that.
I need an Idiots Guide to Coding. |

Thanks. That's great. Then the older iPhone 4 media adapter works with coding on the NBT.
Since I'll probably ask a coder to help me enable this, will the coding get overridden with any future iDrive software updates? |

I'm trying to make this exact same scenario working but without success.
I already coded everything like you, and even API_IPOD_VIDEO, but i'm not able to play video. I only hear the sound. I can use the snap-in adapter to listen to music, and use connected drive app, but no videos playback, or plugin option. I also have a NBT, BMW Apps option and 6NS, VIM,... I'm using the snap-in 84212298308 - media snap-in for iphone4/4s... any ideas? Quote:
