Taking out Resonators to make a louder tone. Anyone have any info on this?

Coming from the e46 community, we used to take out the 3er's resonators to make the car give a more pronounced, and somewhat louder tone. Personally, i think my stock exhaust has a great tone but just on the quieter side. So im trying to find a way to get a little more of the car without changing the exhaust. Im sure some of you have heard of this and i was wondering how many resonators the e90 may have and can this be done without welding rather putting in bolt on straight pipes from possibly supersprint. Any help is appreciated. thanks!

I think that was a popular mod with the E46 M3 owners..I saw something called the "rasp pipe eliminator" basically you would eliminate a pipe with a built in Chamber that would cause the M3 to make a buzzing sound at high rpm's..

i do remember that concept. however that is a whole different idea. the deletion of the resonators was mainly done on the non-m's.

Any significant gains in HP and/or sound with this mod?

No power changes really, but slight change in note. You might lose a little torque.
