I don't know if these PSS needs to be broken in.. but I've got a couple hundred miles on them and them seem very loud at around 75-80mph. I had these PSS on my 135i & they were significantly quieter than the runflats. They were quite nice. These you can hear it resonating off the road and it's a bit overwhelming. It's almost (well not to this extreme) like back when I had my Mazdaspeed3 and had Dunlop Star Specs that were wearing..

You just hear 'em ... romp... romp... romp...

I feel it'd be a dumb thing to take it in for..

EDIT: I have the 18s.

I don't want to sound naïve, but maybe it has something to do with less sound deadening materials in the new M3/M4

My PSS on the F30 are pretty quiet, maybe something is up with one or more of your tires?

Or possibly it could be he road. There is a portion of the interstate I travel on when I go visit the family that made me wonder if my tired were about t suffer a blow out. Road looked fine but for about 3 miles it sounded as you described. Kinda like I was driving over the groves the put on the side of the road to keep you awake or something. Just for a split second over and over... Only time my tires have ever been noisy. Not sure what's the deal with that part of the interstate.

That sounds exactly like it too with the road pavement. I would blame the road except I was just in my 135i last week with the PSS and there wasn't this noise.

That partially might have something to do with it. I road in my buddy's '14 335i xDrive this evening and it was definitely quieter in the cabin than the M3. Which is fine.. I don't mind the noises I hear from the M, the tire sound just gets rather annoying.

This car does have considerable amount of more road/wind noise than any other 3 series/M3 I have owned or driven, including the E46 CSL. It is what it is.

Call me crazy or stupid, but I actually LIKE the fact that it is this way. It makes it feel more raw and communicative.

I'll state the obvious. Did you check pressures?

Also, are the PSS on the M3/M4 really runflats? I was under the impression that they weren't, but I could be wrong. Do we still get the mobility kit?

Cheers.

I have the mobility kit and these tires are not run flats.

Where did you even get that idea?

I didn't manually check the pressures, just through iDrive and they seem fine.

Coolest feature btw.. Being able to see temps & pressure.

What do you mean they are fine? Post your cold air pressure, like when you start your car in the morning.

That road noise will not be coming from the tires or at least I doubt it. These are the best all around street tires that money can buy. NVH is minimal on these.

No... because of weight saving, the current M cars do not have runflat tires; however BMWNA website still talking about runflat tires lol

And still showing the bore and stroke numbers the same as those for the 335, etc. Makes others claim that the S55 is no different than that other twin turbo I6 engine.

Cheers.

Wait, but it is the same engine. Isn't that why S55 is just same as N55, but S instead of an N?

Soo it's noisy huh. Good, nothing worse than a sports car that is quite as a toomb. Road noise is ok to a degree, wind noise is more irritating though since it feels like design or quality flaws.

I'm 350 miles in and not noticing any additional road noise versus my E92 M3.

Except I haven't been on another highway and only on city roads which I don't cruise at 75-80 in a 35 zone. I will have to test out other highways.

I just checked after the car has been sitting over night.. 32psi all around.

I agree with you but could this be a manufacture defect is what I'm wondering?

I'm the other way around.. haha. Wind noise has gone up I've noticed than a 335.. but that's alright with me, I feel that's just due to lighter less insulated materials.
