CN rail wait time?

For those that have received their car. How long did it take to load onto CN rail car? My car arrived Halifax June 30 and still no information on CN website when tracing.

usually it takes about 2 weeks to reach your dealer (rail to stock yard to truck transport to dealer) and the dealer will need another 2-3 days to process and prepare pdi.

So with that in mind potentially the car should arrive in a week or so?

The last time I had a car delivered it took approximately one or two days for the car to be loaded onto rail and a further week to be railed from Halifax to Toronto. That being said, I think the transit time may be dependent upon the day of the week your car gets loaded. In case you're not aware of this, I've enclosed the following link that will hopefully give you an idea of what to expect for rail transit times:

https://ecprod.cn.ca/velocity/Transi...wtc/index.html

Hope this helps!

Thanks. Wow one or two days or the car to be loaded on rail? Really? My car has been sitting in Halifax for 1 week. When I trace the VIN it does not show anything.

I suspect it depends upon the destination. When I look at the travel times between Halifax and Toronto the schedule varies depending upon the load times. However that does not appear to be the case for travel between Halifax and Calgary.

All I know is that it takes 11 days to Calgary.

My SA said this today:

QUOTE
The vehicle already landed Canada and it is under local railway transportation, that's why I said anytime.
I will say hopefully within 10-14 days.
UNQUOTE

So not sure if that means it's on rail and it is not showing on CN.

Finally there is something better about living in Halifax than out West

I just went to the Autoport and the dealer and I drove my M4 back downtown... took about an hour and a half This is probably the ONLY thing better about living in Halifax vs. Calgary (other than the ocean, maybe).

I really hope your car ships quickly but the painful wait will be so worth it!!!

Stop bragging about the ocean.
I actually like the east coast it is very different. Although I don't know if I would live out that way.

By the way your AY M4 is sharp. I finally got to see AY in person this weekend and wow it is so different in real life.

How are you tracing it on the CN website - can you share the link? My car just landed in Halifax today and I'm hoping to start tracking it as well.

It's on www.cn.ca but you need to register for access.

Just got a response from CN after trying to register, said they have no record of my company which admittedly was just my <last name> Inc.

Any suggestions?

FYI. Talking to a few people and it looks like CN in Halifax has a backlog so expect delays.

Nope just checked and still nothing. I have sent a message to the SA to see if he knows anything. It would be best if he tells me the car is enroute

With that being said a lot of people are saying CN tracing is crap. I have a friend that works at Audi and apparently they will receive cars without it even showing up on CN's site.

I wouldn't really rely too much on CN if that's the case.

The only way to do it is if you have a CN login. Otherwise you will have to ask the dealer.

My SA just told me ETA for my car to Calgary is July 27. Since it arrived Halifax June 30 that means it takes about 1 month from Halifax to Calgary.

... the added time may be due to the flooding in SK & Manitoba thus affecting any kinds of transport traffic
