Just cleaned my wheels with a cleaner and now weird stains on rotors...wtf?
Just cleaned my left side with Meguiars Hot Rim All Wheel & Tire and it left this weird stain all over the rotors....since I noticed that I just used soap and water on the ride side. I'm a little concerned now with it. Will it go away??? Do I need to use something else now to get rid of those stains??? Help please!!

Always happens. Just drive the car and the stains will go away with braking. They also rust when you wash the car.

Yes rotors will rust by simply getting them wet and letting them sit. However your picture shows more rust than I would expect. Possibly the cleaner you used is too harsh. I have always used P21s wheel cleaner on all my alloy wheels for 15 years and have never had a problem.

Could be any of those things, but give it a few days to see if it goes away before you go nuts trying to scrub everything off. If your wheels stay dry and you drive the car it may go away without you spending time money and energy to fix it. You at least won't be any worse off.

100% normal, it is exposed mild steel. Rust is near instant every time you wash. I have noticed BMWs do this a bit worse than other makes due to whatever alloy they are using, just is what it is. Carry on.

Don't feel bad someone else asked the same exact question a while ago.

All the posts above are correct but I suppose I should add that I don't use acid based wheel cleaners because even on painted wheels they are hard on the wheels. For new painted wheels I just use a diluted all purpose cleaner, no reason to use anything stronger than it needs to be.

I agree with the P21 wheel cleaner. I have tried many wheel cleaners and over time alot have damaged my rims as well. I have been using the P21 for at least 7 years now and every time I use it I'm still amazed with this stuff. It's a neutral ph miracle worker.
