White smoke from exhaust
Him does anyone have his car having white smoke coming out from the exhaust?
I found that there is quite a lot of white smoke coming out.... Yes, it only happens in the morning, or maybe it happens in daytime too but it's not that obvious. My question is if the smoke is ok? Nothing wrong with my car? Thanks |

Could be an injector issue, does it misfire for a few seconds ? this is the first sign.
Fuel or oil smell ? Turbos usually only smoke when the engine is hot and at idle, after pulling up to traffic lights etc Last edited by Kiwi Peter; 07-22-2014 at 05:45 AM.. |

Sure it's just the cold weather man, mine does that on cold starts and usually goes away once it's slightly warmed up. As long as you don't smell anything then it should be fine

Yep it could be that simple to i guess when we own a BMW and stretch ourselves to buy it you hope that all is fine, so when you see white smoke you pretend you see nothing and here nothing.
Always nip it in the bud and have it looked at before it costs $$$$$$$$$$ Last edited by Kiwi Peter; 07-22-2014 at 04:53 PM.. |

Will keep you all up to speed on what we find, the injector issues are going to be a super big expensive pain for all of us. This year we have replaced heaps of injectors and the problem is getting worse as the KMs creep up. |

CYL you have a 325i right? Just to make sure you're getting advice on issues relevant to the N52 and not the N54/55.
The common injector issues they're talking about don't apply to N52s, and I wouldn't be too concerned about the smoke unless is truly is white/blue smoke and not just steam from a cold exhaust and cold winter air. The slight fuel smell you have at startup is normal for any engine, the engine runs rich when it's cold. A good place to start in terms of smoke from a N/A engine is: does your engine consume oil? are you having to top up between oil changes? and if so, how much/often? |

yes, mine is a N52, which is not direct injection engine. ok, i got it now. i have seen thread stating if the engine is burning oil, that will cause the white smoke and will require engine oil top up. luckily that i do not have to do that yet, so....should be ok. Thanks a lot for your clarification. |
