Fins in Front Bar

Could someone pls kindly check his car to see if the fins in both intakes can be easily removed, without removing the front bar. Thanks in advance.

I haven't investigated how to remove them yet, but I noticed that US spec cars don't even have them.

Yup and their front end looks a lot cleaner and bolder than those with fins IMO. Some guys have wrapped the fins black but if they can be removed without too much hassle, that would be perfect

I heard the US cars with no fins have a different mesh in the intake as well. It may even be that our versions with fins are all one part and they can't be removed (easily).

Ok thanks, I will go check the part numbers and get a $quote for them.

Check the US forums as some of them want to swap for ones with fins.

Haha it's not practical at all cos it means leaving front bar without 2 grilles for 1-2 weeks and in all likelihood need to remove/reinstate the front bar twice to remove existing and install replacement some days later. Researched prices per grille is $40 max at the moment and cheap. Will confirm with reseller.

Does anybody know if it's possible to remove the fog light surround to allow for these fins to be placed? (220d M Sport)

Mark, I don't have the answer but will look around when I'm looking into removing the fins. I'm receiving my car in 3 weeks and should know better then. Perhaps someone else here could help?

Thanks for the reply Jaffa! Yeah i was considering tinting the fog lights black to make them less noticeable against the grille... from close-ups the mesh looks identical to the m235i so I'm hoping the surrounds just clip in and out! (but when is anything ever that easy? ha!)

Had a quick look at my UK spec car and the fins do seem to be moulded into the grille. Real OEM seems to confirm this as there is only one piece for the grille and the USA and Europe versions are different part numbers.
