Cool Carb Legal Intake?

I have a 2006 330i. I want to know what intake is carb legal in California. I am looking at the Injen SP1121BLK. I don't know it if is legal or not. Amazon does not ship it to California too.

short answer: nothing. If something looks aftermarket in your engine bay, you won't pass visual inspection.

The Injen intake is carb legal... I had it on during smog and it was perfectly fine.

+1 on this. The Injen intake is CARB legal and if purchased new, should have the CARB sticker come with it.

Gains are so marginal from an intake on the N52 that your best bet is to stay with stock and just cut out the charcoal filter(not sure how that would affect things in CA) and drop in a K&N. Or if you want a fancy look go with the Euro intake box and a K&N cone. Again gains will be so marginal that you will pretty much be pissing your money away. And if you go with an open (unsealed) intake, which is what you are looking at, then you will actually lose performance do to heat soak.

Injen SP1121 is carb legal: http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/de...eo/D-476-5.pdf

If you don't have one with a sticker, email Injen and they might be able to help you. But showing the smog tech the above document should be enough.

Basically any intake WITHOUT a CARB sticker will fail. BUT, if you find someone who makes a legit intake with a CARB sticker, you'll pass. I put my CARB sticker on my door jam and I just tell the authorities that it melted off the last time it was inside of my engine bay and they usually don't care. I personally had the AFE cold air intake and they never cared to say much more. Also adding in some air scoops would look legit. I'm not sure 100% if it actually helps but the logic seems to support the reason it's made lol.

It really is. You can read up all you want about how to please a woman, you can look at all the diagrams in the world, but just like the clitoris, you won't know what the hell an apex is before you actually find it.

I just tried getting a smog check done on my 2007 328i E90 sedan and it failed the emissions test because of this Injen Intake SP1121 that I have installed. Mine does have the carb sticker with #D-476-5 on it.

Look at the pdf: http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/de...eo/D-476-5.pdf

And look on page 4 and it will have a note that it excludes SULEV. So if your E90 328i is SULEV, it may fail the emissions part of the smog test. At least, that's what happened to me today. Shop told me I cannot use this Injen Intake SP1121 on my car and that I need to put the stock intake back on and redo the test and it should pass.
