Dilemma on Extreme Performance Summer Tires change
So I have performance delivery setup in about about 42 days (its on the Boat) and I have already bought a set of 19" BBS F1 wheels for my M4. So my plan is to put the OEM Michelin's on the BBS F1 wheels and get some aggressive extreme performance summer tires to put on the OEM 19" wheels. I really don't want to get slicks as it was a pain in the ass going to the track. (Sebring, Homestead and Daytona and maybe Circuit of Americas if I have the time)
I was looking at the following: Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 R - my first choice Nitto NT05 or just get another set of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Does anyone have experience or comments with these choices? Some of your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Last edited by zosoboogie; 08-02-2014 at 07:36 PM.. |

I tracked my old E60 M5 on AD08 for about 6 months. They are very good. Good grip, feedback is precise, not much noise. Not as sticky as Nt01 or R888 but the next step down in stickiness and decent price.
I'm in same boat, I plan on tracking my M4 in early October at AMP where my E36 won't pass sound check. I'd prefer Toyo R888 over Advan, but the sizes just aren't quite right on the toyo. Not sure what I'll do yet. Maybe I'll just try out the oem tires which i have no experience with. |

IIRC the Ad08s are closer to the NT01s than the Nt05s. If you want more ultimate grip I would go with either of those options. If you want longer tread life but less grip go with PSS.

Yeah I know, was hoping for eom sizing though. My F82 will be an occasional weekend fun or track day car and I don't love the look of bulging tires. Those Toyo sizes are kind of wide for 9" and 10" rims. That being said, the bigger front tire might help to fill out that bad front fender gap and they do make a 295/30 for the rear that might work too. I do love the R888!
Anyone have experience with Bridgestone RE050A? I see they make eom 19" sizes. 140 utqg so should be pretty sticky. |

Yes, can drive to the track on those just fine if a dry day. Hell, I drive to the track 40 miles on my Hoosiers R6 cause I'm too lazy to switch them at the track.

Whoa that is nuts!! In Florida we can encounter rain at any time any where so that would insanely risky! I tried that once to go to the 1/4 track in my BFGoodrich R1 and thank God I had a controlled spin on the way there. Never did that again.

Had them on my last modded car they had great grip in the dry and wet but with aggressive driving lasted approx 15-20 k for a rear set. Didn't pay any attention to road noise as I would have tire chirping until 4th gear anyway. They were my OEM tire for my G8 GT and on the G8 forum I bought 4 sets and didn't car about thread wear.

NT01 or R888 are a different class of tire than the ad08r
the ad08r are a great tire for dual use, with track time mixed in. I really enjoyed them on the track. personally, I don't have the skill to need nt01s, so I stick with extreme summers I loved the ad08r and the re11. I thought the re11 was a better all around tire and it didn't wear as fast. all things equal, I would go for re11. it also is much better in the rain. I would never consider a PSS for specific track use 2 cents |

I was looking at the Potenza RE-11 which is what I wanted however on the BBS F1s the previous owner ran 255/35/19 275/35/19 So if the front at 19 x 9.5 and the rear are 19 x 10.5 What Tire size can I run from the sizes offered? 255/35R19 265/35R19 275/30R19 285/35R19 305/30R19 Can I put 255/35R19 in the front and 275/30R19 or 285/35R19 in the rear? Better yet what size can I fit on the OEM wheels? Last edited by zosoboogie; 08-03-2014 at 09:28 PM.. |

You need to keep the RPM difference of the stock setup as close as possible, it is not just how much of a tire you can fit, you can look at tires' RPM specs and/or height listed. In the case, the closest you'll get is 265/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear, and they'll fit nicely on 9.5" and 10.5" wide rims. I cannot say anything about fitment into the wheel well though.

And then the 265/35ZR19 front and 275/35ZR19 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire would fit as well?? Furthermore then the 255/35ZR19 front and 285/35ZR19 rear in the Pirelli P Zero Corsa System? Or can anyone recommend a Streetable Track & Competition for fit my OEM wheels? I was trying to study this chart but this would be an expensive and time consuming mistake if I mess it up. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...e.jsp?techid=7 Thanks for the help! |

MPSC 2 size you listed are not good IMO, tire height difference will be too little, need somewhere between, again IMHO, 0.3" min. (est.) to 0.9" max (est.).
Similarly RE-11s in the sizes you list won't fit either, Tirerack is not listing the tire height in their charts, but I doubt it will work. PZero Corsa would work. ContiForceContacts in 265/30/19 and 305/30/19 should work, but you'd need 11" wide rear rims for the 305s. But oh boy, would that setup handle well... Worth trying Last edited by FTS; 08-05-2014 at 11:41 PM.. Reason: I corrected my calculations not to provide misinformation |

personally id go ad08r in stock sizes. you will still have a very good contact patch, and should have quite a bit of grip
I think that increasing the stagger is worse for handlng than increasing the diameter. an ideal tire size IMO would be 275/30 and 295/30 on a 9.5 / 10.5 wheel width. |

the extra half inch in wheel width will provide plenty of sidewall support as the ad08r is already a very stiff tire. the height may be a little shorter than stock, but the ratio of height between the two tires (which is what really matters) is identical. should look awesome and perform great. the m3 should be very grippy in this setup, though perhaps a little more weight in the steering with the stiffer and wider front track. post pics when you get it done! |

I listed incorrect information, for some reason I thought the stock tire height difference between front and rear was 1.6", where it is 0.6". So Kenny is correct, I was wrong; however, in terms of AD08R tires 305/30/19 probably would work better in terms of height and RPM.
Sorry about my mistake. |
