M3 JB4 Beta Testing: 491whp/531ft-lbs

Wanted to post results from JB4 testing over the weekend on forum member tightie's M3 with some pretty impressive results. While here, we also removed the charcoal liners and installed a set of K&N Filters.

This is only the beginning, we're about to see some exciting stuff in the upcoming weeks.

Vehicle: 2015 BMW M3

And yes, that is a M1 in the background

Thanks Tom/Steve/ Everyone at EAS! You guys rock.

Can't wait to come back with some higher octane.

If anyone was wondering, 3.25 Gallons of E85 and the rest 91. It is basically a 93 RON.

Too minimal of a change to be accurately caught on the dyno. Just get those things out as its restricting airflow.

These numbers look great! I might have to keep my EC-7s if that's what they'll look like, lol.

That second calibration looks very good. In 100* heat no less

Smooth curve and holds power well. Seems the dp allow for holding power to redline.

Nice work already!

Updated charts with later run with FUA 40 run, which eliminated the boost spike and allowed a bit more adaptation to take place.

Charts look great. Exactly how map 1 should look. 40-50whp over stock. AFR is spot on also for a direct injection motor.

Map 1 doesn't change the air/fuel ratio directly. Instead it lets the DME run it. On race gas, E85, or under conditions that allow for less knock activity, it will lean the mixture out. On pump gas, higher EGT, during sustained runs, etc, where there is the potential for more knock activity it will enrich the mixture. It's a very dynamic and effective system. One nice thing is with the JB4 is if you are interested you can directly monitor knock, afr, etc, when logging (via laptop, iphone, android, etc) and see the DME in action. The JB4 also monitors the data and has criteria for safety disables. If the fuel pressure gets too low, AFR goes too lean, boost goes too high, knock goes too high, etc, the JB4 will disable itself.

Mike I'm just getting ready to start on my m4... How would I do it via iPhone?

Car is running great with just the stock map1 by the way for all those wondering.... Install was easy MAP sensor was a little bit lame but at least you can see where it needs to go unlike the M5 where it was all in the feel.

There are (3) ways to install it - each stage in more involved than the other.

TMAP is legit right next to the intake[right side, also across from it sit the CAN access points to install those stage 2 wires if one wants and appears to be more time consuming]... The reservoir at the top middle of the engine right below it sits the map sensor thats a tad tricky... No more than an hr to get the stage 1 going. 15 minutes if you've got skilled hands.

Yep, it's a pretty simple install - the hardest part would be removing the passenger side airbox to access the electronic wastegates.

We go over the airbox portion here in the BMC filter install thread: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1014235. Once the box is removed, the solenoids are easy to spot. Everything else is easily accessible.

I'm not sure if S55 support has been added yet to the 3rd party\ interfaces but all the info on them is here:

Thanks for posting SAE, been wanting to see the difference. How much power did the down pipes add? I'm thinking of using the tune only so I wanted to estimate that alone.
