335D Remap - Choices/thoughts?

Hi

Thinking of getting my 335D remapped - can anyone list the companies that do it and how much it costs approx?

Thanks,

Jim

DMS, £550ish if pushed. Personally i would go with them as they provide a warranty if it all goes tits up and they have a proven record.

Hang on guys, don't all get too down heartened.

This is about "Value for money" and not about achieving some mystical power figure.

The best thing to do would be to drive a mapped one, and a stock one back to back - If you feel it's worth the 500 quid then it's, er, worth it

I don't hear any of the Re-mapped guys complaining ?

Anyway it's a diesel it's not supposed to hit magical HP figures. Look at the torque curve... monstrous.

Anyway we need more cars dyno'd, then mapped to make a proper go of it. Has anyone actually spoken to simon at emaps about our findings ?

I agree with you on this one Carlos. More info needed before splashing the cash.

i hear what your saying about the torque but a lot of companies out there are advertising a 350bhp figure, so surely if i am paying my ££ for such an 'upgrade' i should at least expect an increase to at least 5-10% of that value.

I agree, money where mouth is etc.

BUT what Dyno, What dyno methodology etc etc.

Would bet my money that their "350bhp" was on a DYNOJET - which normally read a GOOD deal higher than the DYNO DYNAMICS. 10 to 25% is what I've seen so far.

In which case I also bet that Carl's car is probably already close to this stock assuming we were to roll it on a Dynojet.

Lets not get too cynical until we get answers from those who A) have spent the money and some time getting to grips with the car. B) Will probably raise their finding with Simon et al to get some feedback.

It's not at all unlikely that BMW may have tweaked their ECU code to tone down the effectiveness of the particular map code that was implimented on the two cars in questions.

Hence my favour for "complicated" piggy back systems, that I can modify myself - hassle maybe but I get EXACTLY what i pay for

Remember the flash usually isn't even coded by the guy that installs it so there's very little he'll be able to do if you're not happy with the map.
