Balanced output to unbalanced amp input
Hi , don't know if anyone can help but I would like to know what would happen if I connect a newly coded NBT that was on Stereo which has now been coded to HIFI, from reading the posts on here I believe the HIFI outputs Balanced signals.so what would happen if I connect to an Amp that does not have inputs capable of accepting balanced signals.

You will get a hum in the system that you will not be able to get rid of. It also won't sound quite right. In the long run, I think you'll have a good chance of damaging your amp, but I'm not sure. It's not something you want to do.

Thanks , Currently I have connected the balanced outputs to the high level inputs on my Alpine amp and sounds much better than what it was in Stereo mode, its a lot cleaner sounding now with the HIFI setting . I do have an Audio Control EQX that should be here in a few days , and the manual say's that it accepts Balanced inputs and converts to unbalanced. So hopefully this will protect the amps. Thanks for your info though.
