anybody using an oil catch can in pcv line

and still have carbon buildup in the intake?

Oil and carbon are two different things. You're always gonna have carbon. Its a byproduct of combustion. Catch cans just keep oil out of the intake system.

IMO, oil in the intake will certainly act as attractant for combustion byproducts and accelerate the deposition rate. My question is how much the oil contributes to the buildup.
