Lexus RC F prices and specs announced

The Lexus RC F, an IS-based performance coupe, will start from £59,995 when it makes its UK debut in January 2015

The all-new Lexus RC F is now on sale in the UK for £59,995 and will arrive over here towards the end of January 2015.

Based on the Lexus IS, the performance coupe will be available in two guises at launch, the entry-level RC F and a £67,995 Carbon variant, with both featuring a new 5.0-litre V8, producing 450bhp and 520Nm. This is paired to an eight speed automatic gearbox featuring manual paddles as standard, and is backed up on the road by Brembo brakes, an active rear wing and Lexus’ Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system.

A torque-vectoring differential is available, too – standard fit for RC F Carbon models – giving the driver a choice of three modes to “optimise traction and vehicle control”.

Both models also get LED headlights, including automatic high beam function, as well as dual-zone climate control, 19-inch alloy wheels and a touchscreen multimedia system with DAB radio, a DVD player and satnav all fitted.

Guaranteeing peace of mind is safety kit in the form of eight airbags, Hill Assist Control, blind spot monitors, plus Lane Departure and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Comfort is likewise taken care of thanks to cruise control, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, keyless entry, parking sensors and a reversing camera.

Distinguishing the RC F Carbon are specially-designed alloys, Alcantara upholstery, heated front seats, and a Mark Levinson surround sound system. The flagship Lexus also gains LFA-derived carbon fibre-reinforced plastic for the roof, bonnet and rear spoiler, which helps to keep weight down.

Optional extras across the range extend to metallic paint and an Adaptive Cruise Control and pre-crash safety system package.

So Lexus went with the V8 again, good for them

So 59,995 x 1.66 (roughly) = over $100,000 USD

Umm, tell me my calculations are off.

If you go to bmw.co.uk the M4 starts at 56,635 over there. So it looks like it's just a bit higher than an M4 but probably has more standard features.

That's the correct exchange rate for British Pound to US Dollar.

But it remains to be seen how these RC-F's will be priced in the US market.

IMO, though the V8 looks good, there is little else about the car I found attractive.
-8spd auto instead of DCT is not a good start, but we'll see how it performs
-is there Limited Slip Differential?
- are there electronically controlled suspension modes?

If Lexus wants to compete for BMW's sports-coupe niche, they're going to have to do more than just offer a roaring V-8.

Yeah luckily for us Americans we don't pay British price converted lol. We pay a similar price in US dollars.

Unless it has more options I don't know how Lexus justifies charging more than an M4 for this car. Baffling.

Here is a promising alternative to the f8x for those who still want a normally aspirated motor.

There's no doubt the gt350 will be great performance car especially for the money but I would personally never buy one. Not to say that I'm too good for owning a mustang as I appreciate all types of makes and models. I would just prefer a certain level of refinement and sophistication to go along with the performance.

Any idea of when this Lexus will be released in the u.s and if there is a four door variant?

I think the s550 Mustang may have up'd its sophistication & refinement. The interior alone in the GT is more upscale than any previous Mustang. I don't think the 350 will be wilder, but even more refined than the GT.

So since they keep avoiding releasing the weight figure. I would guess the rumors it is a porker is true.

I think people cant get past the fact its a mustang though. i personally don't blame them either. i really would rather not buy a mustang, even when its fast for the money.

Took some photos from my phone while at Pebble Beach. I like the overall package and the options but I'm afraid to say in person while the looks are noticeable it is not what I would call beautiful

er it must be the angle + lighting (hiding the shapes of the car) but the white RCF looks busted as all hell

i loved the crap outta the initial images of this car, but real life photos are always a bit different, and i'm sure my opinion will change once i see the car on the road as well

hopefully the weight isn't too ridiculous

No thanks. Like the engine choice but offering slush box only in this type of car is beyond me. Why? Keep trying Toyota, we'd love to see a true alternative to the M cars but it's impossible if you stick to slush box only.

Like the side view, the rear view is fine, the wheels are ugly, but the front view/front bumper/radiator grill is flat out disgusting.

My thoughts exactly. I actually couldn't bring myself to take pics of the front. Made me shudder. Which is a shame bc the LF-LC is gorgeous. That's the car Lexus needs to build.
