It's funny, but the longer I wait, the more I am losing interest in the car. I am also now committed to waiting for DCT, where a month ago, I would have been all over whatever I could get from the dealer.

I was on the waiting list at two different dealerships for this car. I changed one of them for the x6. Which one will come first?

Ya, I am also losing interest in the car. After all it is just a car. I already have one and its paid for!

Also, with the market tanking think what 50K in some blue chips would be worth when it picks back up?

I am not losing interest in this because I know I will be satisfied when the time comes. I'm just losing my patience with BMWNA (although I know they have their reasons)

Considering the fact that blue chips are getting hammered...not much.

Not losing interest at all. If everyone would admit this is purely a self imposed prison we have all created then it is easier to accept.

I ALWAYS want something immediately. I cannot stand to wait...but I rationalize that since I know this about me then I counter it with the realization that regardless of how soon anything arrives...it is still not soon enough and this makes me calm.

Buy low, sell high. Rule #1.

Or you could wait for the stocks to go back up again!

Funny. I agree with E and am losing interest a bit myself. Hence somewhat useless arguments with little pests like gbb. At the same time Sick's description is completely accurate as well - it is our own little self imposed prison/siutuation. Its funny how you can agree with multiple folks whos idea seem a bit contradictory but actually they are consistent.

Every morning I sign into this forum and don't see any new information about pricing or arrival dates I die a little bit inside.

Seriously loosing interest, E and S? Can't believe that. Seems like BMW NA is going over the top then...

Maybe a little teaser I found can help:

Best regards, south

South, you are THE MAN. Thanks. Little shreds of information like this really do help! I liked the pace of that needles movement! Seems clear that is was not nearly an absolute max acceleration run as well.

I had a little interest in 2005, so I put down a deposit and got on the list.
I was thinking about a used E46 M3.
I got impatient and wanted a BMW fix. I bought a Z4 M Coupe "to drive til I get the M3" cuz it looked good.
I didn't like driving the M Coupe, I sold it several months later.
I was excited about the M3 again.
I got bored with the M3 again and thought about walking into a dealer and just buying a 335i off the lot for a fix.
I went to the auto show and decided a 135i would be the thing for my next commuter. And maybe I shouldn't get an M3 after all.
I am now excited about the M3 again and OK with waiting for DCT.
Who knows where my head will be when my name comes up!

This is what putting down a deposit 3 years before release will do to you! If when I put down my deposit I knew it would be a 3 year wait, I totally would have done things differently. I probably would have bought that used C55 AMG right away. German V8 fix needed badly!

I have too many hours reading the forums and looking for pics, videos, specs...anything I can get my hands on to give up now. This car is so ingrained in my head that I feel like I already own one. I do admit that BMWNA is taking a bit of the excitement away but this will come back once they pop back on the map and announce the damn pricing!

Good things come to those who wait. I'm more excited about this car now than ever, and it's still building. Now I'm wondering how long to wait. Will we see a competition package with Brembos at some point now that BMW has partnered with them?

I'm not thinking about it as much as I used to, but a 335 drove by when I was at work yesterday and I thought how amazing they look, which led me to think how much better the M3 is going to look. It'd be cool if BMW came out of nowhere with pricing....say.....tomorrow.

I was at a Porsche dealer yesterday. Sat in a CaymanS and a 911S. Very nice. I inquired about the discounts the cars are selling at. He said about $5k under MSRP for the Cayman and $4k for the 911. That's just chatting and asking. I wonder what would happen if one was to negotiate. If it wasn't for the rear seats in the M3...

Man - that is so tempting. I have owned several Bimmers -and first one in the family was my Dad's (back in '79). But, since I was 10 or so I have always loved the 911 - and this is my (hopefully) attainable dream.

So, an M3 would still be a transition to Carrera S ownership. But if the wait is too long, and the pricing is not right - then the kinds of deals you are talking about are definitely causing my mind to wander.

And, I DON'T need the rear seats! We have a 540iT for my wife and a minivan for the dogs; and no kids to tote about - so a coupé is all mine, greedy me, mine! So, practicality is not an issue - which leaves me conflicted
