Thoughts on painted brake calipers...

Seems like the vast majority of folks are not springing for CCB's. I am surprised that people aren't opting for painted calipers other than blue. The blue doesn't really "pop" on either the black or light alloy wheels. I might change my build to include with the red or yellow calipers...think they'll look much better with my light allow rims and MG exterior. Thoughts? Has anyone else ordered this way, any additional cost?

Somebody contact Sir Loin to adjust his survey for caliper color. I'm going individual on mine. Porsche acid green from the 918 prototype. Waiting to hear if BMW will add piping on the seats to match.

I actually believe it is a factory option (individual), but completely cost prohibitive. BMW wants something like $3k for black, red or yellow calipers. Just go to a shop and have them painted any color you like. No big deal.

I'm looking through the BMW M Performance Parts catalogue I picked up from the dealer a few weeks ago and the M Performance Big Brake Kit comes with either Red, Yellow or Orange calipers. Are these not the brakes that come standard on the M3? Perhaps I've mistakenly assumed that it would be easy to option for another color... Just emailed my CA.

Its not an option, at least not an option for a standard order.

Go to any local coffee and cars or meet-up and there will be someone there with cards that specifically paints calipers. I like the idea of repainting them the correct way with a sand blast and professional job.

Now I have a new question: Could a shop paint the calipers to match the color of a Sakhir Orange exterior? That would look great IMO.

IND will do them for me - I'm sure they know what they are doing.

It is not possible to get Individual option to change the color of the calipers. I have inquired this directly to BMW Individual Germany. It is best to have a paint shop paint them the color of your choice.

Saw these when I was at the Vancouver International Auto Show in March. I think these are for the 3 and 4 Series. I suppose you can order these and install them onto your M. Or these same colors might be available for special order when you order your car.

I went CCB, but I wasn't aware changing colors was an option. If I had known, I would've went with something other than gold.

If I had gone steel and wanted a change in color, I'd consider aftermarket brakes. You get better brakes and a color change that isn't a paint over. I've done brake caliper color changes before and over time, sometimes the base color comes up due to stone chips.

No, these color caliper options are not available when you special order your car.

Changing your caliper color at the time of ordering your car is not an option. I have confirmed this.

Everyone knows you can't order these together with your car. I mean you can order them separately and install them onto your car after you take delivery.

i WISH you had the option to choose the color. the blue doesn't look BAD per se … but i think i would've gone with black if i had the option. in biglare's defense, it did kinda sound like you were saying they may be available on the options list in your previous post, no biggie though!

i do also like the idea of color-matching calipers to the body!
