DIY for H&R spring install?
Anyone have a quick DIY for the H&R springs on the F8x yet, or any tips? I'm about to install these on my M4 so any info would help.
I can also take pics, etc. for a DIY guide if needed. |

I'm also throwing around the idea of doing the springs myself. I'd like to see a diy. Shops around here want to charge about $1k but mainly I don't want to leave my car all day in the hands of some mechanic who will definitely want to take the car out for a joy ride.

shouldn't be that much different than any spring swap... Check DIY on e92 M section.

We're done with the rear springs, so far it's pretty simple. I'm taking pics for a DIY anyway so I'll put something together once we're finished up. |

Which springs did you go with? M4 or 435i? It looks like M4 lowers rear too much over 435i ones.

These are the M4 springs, so we'll see how it looks. I thought H&R had done some sort of revision recently on these springs but not sure if it was to raise the rear ride height or not. Either way you could always add a spring pad to raise it a bit, or just swap it out for the 435 springs. It's super easy to do the rears so it wouldn't be a big deal.

I installed H&Rs on my car last week (F80), and it was a piece of cake. The struts don't need to be completely removed from the vehicle, they will fall out of the wheel well enough. Then a spring compressor can be used. Strut brace needs to be removed and unbolt the aluminum firewall brace on the RH/passenger side. I modified an 18mm socket for the strut shaft nut so I could get the 10mm wrench on the top of the strut to hold the shaft. Key things to note: 1. Loosen the strut shaft nut prior to removal, but don't remove 2. MAKE SURE, you mark the rear cam bolts and washers on the rear suspension when these are removed so you can get alignment close to original specs.
Sorry I didn't put together a DIY, but I'd be happy to answer questions for anyone should you have them.
