RB Turbo & BMW OEM turbo install hardware
Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I'm supporting Rob Beck with the distribution of RB turbochargers and associated RB Turbo hardware within Australia. I can supply a brand new set of RB turbochargers and a complete BMW OEM turbo install kit to you or directly to your workshop if preferred. The turbos are available for $4,349 and the install kit will cost $319 with No GST to pay. FYI, The first two pics are a comparison of a new'ish OEM TD03 turbocharger and a mint condition TD04 "hybrid" from RB Turbo with a TD04-15T compressor wheel and TD04L exhaust wheel. N.B. whist there is no core charge associated with the purchase of the RBs, you will be required to send me your old OEM turbos once your mechanic has installed the RBs. This process keeps your car on the road whilst awaiting the arrival of your turbos and negates the hassles associated with the shipment of your cores to and from Rob in the US. Rob has recently purchased a state-of-the-art VSR (Vibration Sorting Rig) to allow precision balancing of the CHRA/cartridge. Whilst RB's are known for their durability the new VSR balancing procedure will further increase the reliability of RB's within high boost applications. I have also attached pic of a balancing report illustrating the end result of a VSR balanced cartridge on 3 consecutive runs from 20K to 170K rpm and the VSR itself. Cheers, Justin. P.S. all amounts are in AUD with no GST component to pay. Last edited by JD75; 04-13-2015 at 04:00 PM.. Reason: Revision |

For those guys that may have read some info on Rob's turbo upgrades that are currently being R&D'd, just so you know I am very much across that too.
I may have even had something to do with the naming convention for his proposed lineup, haha. Anyway in the first pic from right to left, BMW OEM TD03, RB's, Super RB's and the second pic is a better illustration of the TD04-19T billet compressor wheel versus the TD03-10T cast wheel in the OEM turbochargers. Rob has requested that I refrain from making any formal announcements until testing is complete and the design/wheel combination has been finalised. But I can say that a set of Super RB's are already on a car in the US, with a second vehicle to follow this week. Cheers, JD. P.S. please excuse the less than perfect finish on the inlet neck of the compressor cover on the Super RB's, that pic was provided to me prior to final machining of the "Super's" that are now being tested. |

Great Stuff Justin. I am definitely loving my new RBs combined with Jb4 and E85 Flash and meth. Very drivable around town for a low 11 sec car with no refinement lost.
Hmm, super RBs? maybe later LOL |

Hey guys,
for anyone that may have been following the extraordinary horsepower developments of TFT intake/turbo inlet kit in combination with RB's and is now considering upgrading their OEM turbos, I have set of VSR precision balanced RB turbochargers in stock and they are looking for a better home than a display cabinet, haha. Pricing for the RB's and OEM install kit is per the first post above. FYI, in lieu of the buzz associated with the TFT kit Peter@Advan has agreed to a reduced installation cost of $1,500 inc.GST on the RB turbochargers. This is a fixed labour cost with a $500 discount over Advan's normal N54 turbo R&R price, but it does NOT include consumables such as engine oil/filter and OEM coolant replacement. Cheers, Justin. With regards the Super RB's, following on-road testing on behalf of Rob Beck and "Trickcruiser" Rob deemed it necessary to re-design the Super RB hardware which has lead to the development of the Super RB Evo's.
The Evo's are a fully adapted TD04 hybrid turbocharger that use a true TD04 compressor housing which sees custom intake/turbo inlet and compressor discharge pipe plumbing to with increased diameter suit. Whilst it's doubtful the completed Super RB Evo kit will be RHD compatible, I have the ability to sort that out even if it means re-doing all the turbo inlet and compressor discharge plumbing from scratch to accommodate the RHD steering assembly. Stay tuned for further updates as Rob is now finally at the point where the Super RB Evo's are ready to go back into the original test vehicle of "Trickcruiser" over on N54Txxh. Cheers, JD. Hey gents,
I recently received a PM regarding the modification of the OEM compressor discharge pipe I alluded to in one of my TFT intake/turbo inlet threads. I now pretty much insist that any RB's I sell should be accompanied by a modified pipe, but prior to my taking on the distribution of RB turbochargers in Australia on behalf of Rob Beck I suspect there were a few sets imported and kicking around that are still running on the restrictive OEM pipe. FYI, the modification of the discharge pipe has seen a dyno proven gain of 15-20rwkW on an otherwise maxed out (say 20psi@6,000rpm) RB car using stock "pancaked" turbo inlets. The rear pipe tract that connects to the discharge outlet of the rear turbo is heavily pinched from the factory to allow for collision crush clearance. However the pinch is excessive and whilst the modified pipe still retains some relief to allow for steering assembly clearance, it's still a huge improvement with far far better flow characteristics. Please note the front turbo tract remains unchanged, the pics show the rear tract before and after the mod. Cheers, JD. Last edited by JD75; 02-21-2015 at 11:05 PM.. Reason: Revision |

Seen these in person @ Advan last week. Justin's knowledge of these and the e92 fuel system is second to none.... Willing to explain the ins/outs of every little detail about them, which is something you want especially when spending this sort of $$$
I am trying very very hard not to pull the trigger in purchasing these babies!! And yes the compressor pipe mod is def a necessity in my books too, especially after seeing them! |

A local fabricator/mechanic that I know.
He's the same guy that will be sorting out the soon to arrive TFT intake/turbo inlet kits should the rear inlet pipe require reworking. The modified compressor discharge pipe (aka hot side charge pipe) can be supplied for $229 on a core exchange basis with a flat shipping rate of $20 to anywhere in Aus. So far all of the purchasers have paid for the modified pipe in conjunction with RB's they have bought from me, so I haven't been too concerned about a refundable core charge. But as these OEM pipes are worth quite a bit of money to replace it's something I might need to consider moving forward. Thanks, Justin. Last edited by JD75; 03-19-2015 at 07:05 AM.. Yep, normally done at the time of RB turbo installation. But it's not a huge task to swap out the OEM pipe post turbo install. So for anyone that has RB's or any other Stage 2 hybrid turbo the modification is definitely worth a noteworthy power increase on the dyno in the upper rpm range. The rear turbo will be able to operate at the same level of efficiency as the front turbo, whilst also improving its reliability at high boost levels.

Hey Gents,
here is a dyno graph from a FBO RB Turbo car with upgraded turbo inlets, running an E50 blend + Methanol injection (50/50) with a JB4 G5 iso tune and a custom Trebila Performance E85 backend flash. FYI, there is power left on the table, as a misfire issue is preventing the engine from revving beyond the 6,400rpm'ish mark. Once sorted the boost curve can be made more linear and I suspect peak power will occur around 6,500+rpm. The car has a Fuel-It Stage 3 LPFP installed in preparation for a Vargas Double Barrel Shotgun kit, which in combination will allow us to run 100% E85. :-) However for those guys not wanting to achieve maximum horsepower figures, a Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP upgrade will be sufficient (providing your HPFP is healthy) if you stick to an E50 blend with use of the E85 backend flash for appropriate adjustment of the fuel scaling tables. Cheers, Justin. P.S. for those guys that are interested in the use of a custom E85 specific backend flash, I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism and knowledge of David Trebila.
