Navigation "Areas to Avoid" feature?

When my Welt representative was showing me all of the various navigation menus in my F82 during my ED he pointed out that the system contained a list of "areas to avoid" that, if selected, makes sure that the directions given doesn't lead you into any of those "areas." For those that have taken redelivery of their cars in the U.S., does that option still exist or does it get removed by the VPC when they update the navigation. I'm just curious as I know that having that option in the U.S. would probably lead to accusations of racism and bias depending on what areas BMW has included in their list.

I'd be really surprised if this was available, and I haven't seen anything like it, but as long as it was based on crime data, I don't think it would be racist. As an example, my wife got her masters at a college near Newark NJ. One night after class she was stopped at a red light and cop pulled up and yelled at her (paraphrasing) that you don't stop at red lights in this neighborhood at night, just look both ways and keep moving. You can bring up crime statistics by county or zip code on the internet, so including it in the nav isn't that big of a leap.

Unfortunately it is fuckin illegal here. But we all religiously have our own unspoken areas that we just don't drive in. In DC it would be SE. I would drive through, but hell if I would stop at a 7-11 for a slurpee and a Hustler magazine. Shit, even if I got a $1000 an hour prostitute, I ain't stopping for protection! Word to your Mother!

My problem with candy is that addresses here make no sense to me, and I don't like people enough to learn to use it. I don't even know my home address, so I just pointed with the interactive map something I think is near by, and use it as a guide line.

This only gets humiliating in days like tomorrow, when I had to ask a fellow forum member to let me tailgate him to a track we are all meeting at.

That cop probably saved your wife from possible assault. And no, you don't stop at redlights in Newark during the night.
