Valentine One Hardwire

Just received my Valentine One hardwire kit in the mail. Has anyone else hardwired their V1 into their car? Is there anything special I should be letting the tech know about the install? Is it just like any other car when installing?

I just did the "Mirror Tap" cable method for my Escort 9500.

Other option would be "invisicord"

Seems to be working ok.

In my E92 M3 I ran the hardwire kit to the glove box fuse box using an add-a-fuse. But now the fuse box is under the hood.

Have you thought about using the Valentine Savvy for your install method? Took me 5 minutes and I can leave the power cord in the car and easily disconnect the Savvy and place the V1 in my other vehicle in about a minute.

I hardwired mine with the supplied kit. Unfortunately there was not screw I could tap into for the ground connection so I bought another wire tap at radio shack to tap into the ground wire. Everything else I did per the DIY posted on here.

Valentine Savvy is the way to go. You can shut off those annoying false alarms at a grocery store by setting the Savvy to ignore them. The thumbwheel has eight settings from 15 to 65 mph. Choose one, or select the AUTO setting to mute all alerts, or the NONE setting to switch off automatic muting. It's [retty cool and plugs into your OBD port.

UPDATE: So I went to my local Sound Advice to have my Valentine one hardwired into the ignition. Ive had this same procedure done on my last 2 cars at the same place. Long story short, the tech came out into the waiting room and told me he did not want to start messing with the car and its fuse box simply because there was absolutely no guide available online for the 4 seris/M4. He said the only thing he could find was that the car had "low currency" and he didn't know which color wire to hook in to??

Anyone else experience this issue? For those of you who have your V1 hardwired into your ignition switch, which wire did you hook into??

Should he really refer to himself as a 'Tech' if all he does is google for a guide on how someone else did it? Also, I assume by 'currency' he means current. I'm surprised your first two cars made it through ok.

Brochop...follow what I said. If you dont want to do it like yourself then have the BMW mechanic wire it up via the same method I provided a link to. very easy and it took him less than 20 minutes. He did pop off the a-pillar though rather than stuff it.

Call Craig (don't know hiw last name but he is my mechanic) at Performance BMW in Chapel Hill NC and he can talk you through. He is pre-med and very enthusiastic to help. Just mention that I am the guy with the MW M4 he did the MPE and CF options for last weekend.

Just get the Savvy and the problem is solved. Why pay a technician if you can do it yourself in 5 minutes.

The Mirror tap cord does the same thing, just easier. Two spades plug into the back of the plug instead of using wire taps.

So right now I have my 9500 tapped into my mirror plug, and my Laser Interceptor plugged into 12V console outlet. I am thinking of running a power cable to the second fuse box in the trunk. Tomorrow I will see if I can find a switched circuit in the trunk, then do a "add a circuit".

I could use the accessory plug but it comes on whenever the door is opened, and stays on for a bit after the door is closed/locked. BUT you would think that using the power outlet would not interfere with apparently very sensitive electronics.
