Why no rear LEDs

The answer to this question is likely related to BMWs typical LCI upgrades, but I'm perplexed as to how a 2015 car which offers an LED lighting package (granted it's specific to headlights) would not have full LED tail lights... even a 5 year old e90 for example has LED markers and turn signals... Just really surprised me to see any incandescent bulbs on the F8x cars

Let's hope they don't change the trunk like they did on the E90's.

You answered your own question. This is nothing new. BMW has upgraded to LED tail lights at the LCI stage of several generations.

It is what it is.

What LEDs did you buy and where did you get them?

I got those: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...#/tab/Overview

but mainly because I need amber indicators for Europe. You can also buy red ones.

this "issue" with the rear lights is seriously p1ssing me off, even the dealer didn't understand why they would do this (on a car made available 2014 as a new model). well, hopefully I can retro-fit once they will release them. had a E46 M3 ten years ago, after-LCI model, which included LED rear lights. but now on the F82 in 2015, I don't have LED rears... wtf ?!

Any reason you didn't buy these? Looks like they will definitely not cause a bulb-out warning and are almost twice as bright.
