HPFP Warranty
Hey guys,
Need a reply asap as a dealer is trying to charge me 1.4 for supply and fit. Supposedly these are covered under the 10 year warranty or whatever via BMW international? Anyone can shed some light on it ASAP! |

I think you should write to bmw to get them to replace it and if they dont take it to the ACCC cause it is life threatening if you drive on the free way and your car goes into limp mode.

the actual fuel pump is about 300-350 landed. if you read further down it only actually take about an hr to do. no coding needed and you dont need to take out your jb4. you can spend that extra 1k on something else. just my 2cents

From what you just posted, it sounds like they've already done the work??
In that case you're fucked. You haven't got much choice. As stated above though, why are they charging you to remove the JB4? If you're covering the full cost of repairs they have no right to do that or argue it otherwise. The labour they've charged probably includes the time to remove the JB4 and re-assemble which wasn't part of the deal I bet. You should have got them to agree to a price beforehand. |

Bad luck. I think most people on this forum could have assisted with the diagnosis because we've all replaced our HPFPs. Your JB4 reads logs and it will throw codes WOT for the HPFP and there are obvious symptoms like long cranks etc.. At most you should've paid about $500-$600 including labour from an indy had you purchased the part from overseas. $270 for diagnosis is daylight robbery! Why would they take out your JB4? You just need to set it to stock (0/0 in dash) for their BMW computers to plug in to.
Next time you have an issue, read the in dash codes and order the parts from sites like pelicanparts/fcp euro. Find yourself a reputable indy and have them put it in if you're not confident in DIYing. I hear in Melbourne Active Auto are decent. |
