Any members with the aFe Twisted Steel Header/Down Pipe (48-36310)?

Hello people, I'm still under manufacturer warranty (just 700kms on the odometer) and in my country, the BMW dealer is very very strict when it comes to voiding warranties due to modifications.

So I'm thinking on this Down Pipe WITH cats:

http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...0L&&brandID=99

What do you think guys? I know that gains won't be "too much" but since I'm not doing any ECU modifications (piggy back, JB4), I'm currently just thinking on giving my ride a better exhaust sound (I have the Performance Exhaust installed) and a little more performance.

Thank you as always for your comments.

Well, it will give you more sound and more HP/TQ over stock. If that is all you are looking for this will bolt right in. Shop around for price as I have seen them on sale from time to time.

As an example of good price, http://www.gotexhaust.com/i-17346477...down-pipe.html

Many thanks Delnari for always replying to my questions man, I really appreciate it! I'm seeing that part on ebay even that is not listed for the M235i but for the 335.

You think my dealership will notice if I put this?

I have MPE with 200 CPI sports cat. With jb4 maps 2, 5 and 6 goes hard and sounds great!

Dealer not bothered as it still has a cat installed in the exhaust, in fact service guys like having my car in as it's got other tasty add-ons.......

Hey my friend, thanks for your feedback! I think I'll go with this downpipe then

Now, a question, is the down pipe hard to install? I'm not thinking on doing it myself, but I could use some pointers regarding how hard/delicate is the installation in terms of how tough is to get to the OEM down pipe, remove it (the sensors, etc). Is it difficult enough so it might be dangerous for the sensors or other components? Sorry if my question sounds silly but knowing this is crucial for making the purchase decision. Thanks Pave

The install was pretty easy, its pulling the OEM off that was a PITA for me. It took me 1hr to install using a lift and compressor tools, It was a learning curve figuring out what needed to be loosed up and pulled off to get at everything, 45 minutes next go around. The lift was crucial in this happening in 1hr vs 2hrs or more on jack stands.

Getting sensors off is no big deal, particularly if you have a 02 sensor wrench

I got mine installed by local independent BMW specialist. They charged 2hrs labour.

Thank you G-Mann for sharing your experience changing this, good to know is not a dangerous task for any component on the car.

I'd be very curious to learn what the CPI of the stock CAT is. I think 200 cpi might be the sweet spot to see gains and have some cost justification for a catted downpipe. Of course then we have to worry about setting off a light because the O2 sensor is seeing something is doesn't expect too (yes, even catted DP's have the risk of setting off the light).

Stock cat is 400-500cpi.

I have BCS 200 CPI cat DP. Jb4 in stock or bypass modes no cel.

Wagner tuning website confirms their 200cpi DP doesn't trigger CEL. Whereas Bastuck 100 CPI DP do confirm it will trigger CEL.

What is your source for the cpi of the stock cat?

All of your examples, are they catted downpipes for the M235i/N55 platform specifically? I do not see a catted DP for the M235i on Wagner's website.

So, my friends, I'm confused, is this aFe Power 48-36310 part compatible with the M235i or not? :/

I'm going to be purchasing the 200cpi catted downpipe from Wagner tuning, less restriction and they guarantee against cel's. $650 too.

alz, you're in Europe, right? Because purchasing the Wagner DP for me would be a looot of money to ship it to America.

aFe website says they catted DP will not shot cel errors, I really hope it's true 'cause I'm going with that one I guess.

No, I am in the US. Wagner Tuning has an American distributor.

http://www.wagner-tuning.com/Downpip...cat_p_112.html

That is the 200cpi catted downpipe that fits the M235i. I spoke to them and they claimed to have '55 on backorder' and they expect to ship mid-November.
