Hair line scratches in both tinted rear windows

Had my windows tinted with Llumar about 3-4 weeks ago, and just yesterday rolled the rear side windows down. When I rolled them back up, both windows have multiple, prefectly straight hair-line scrathces that run the entire length (vertical) of the window.

Anyone else had this happen? Could it be something stuck to the tint film, or is there something inside the window/door frame that scratched the tint?

Don't know if the lifetime warranty on the tinting will cover this, if it is the "car's fault".

Thanks!!

Are they located in the middle of the windows? I had multiple scratches on my passenger side rear window after 4 days of tint. Checked with BMW, and they confirmed there is no window regulators at that area. they thought it was scratched by the dust that stick on the rubber seal, and scratch the tint when I roll down.
The tint place was great, and re-do the piece for free. You may want to check with your tint shop as well.

I had to have one of my windows redone yesterday because of some scratches. The tint guy said that sometimes the Llumnar tint already has scratches on it when he gets it and doesnt realize it until the customer complains. Have them redo it.

Yeah pretty much in the middle, and one or 2 on each side of the "middle" scratch. It is not really visible from outside the car, but in the car, especially in direct sunlight, it looks like hell.

I had scratches on the rear windows of my car. My tint came with a garuentee - so I made them replace it. The tint guy reccommended cutting a .5cm strip of very course rubber off the window rubber strip (and promised to replace it with a new one if I wasn't happy). I let him "modify" the window rubber - redo the tint and I've been happy since. No scratches - no ratttles or anything.

He claims he has to cut the window rubber on the Mercedes C and E class - otherwise they also scratch.

Get them to redo it.

I recently had my windows tinted and they noticed a hairline scratch and retinted the window because they thought it was the tint and it was the window. I took it over to the dealership and asked them to replace my window and pay for it to be retinted. They actually took the window off of another car.
