Going to non run flats for winter. Is spare required?
I have a 228i M Sport with run flat tires. Thinking of going non run flats for my winter set. Do you know if in NY state I am required to have a spare tire? Or can I just carry a tire repair kit in the car?
Thanks. |

Without knowing the exact law for your state, I'd bet the answer to be that a spare isn't necessary.
The reason is that BMW does sell cars in NY that don't have runflats and don't come with a spare. Example: M235i, M3, M4 If it were illegal to operate a car like that, they wouldn't be permitted to sell it that way in the state. |

That sounds like an odd law if it exists. Never heard of that in my life.
But then again in some European countries its the law to carry an orange triangle... |
