Valentine 1 install.

Anyone installed a V-1 into the car? Also where did you tap into at the fuse box?
Thanks

I got mine installed and the guy hardwired into the rear view mirror. The fuse box is under the hood, it took him half an hour to do the job.

Mirror tap is best by far search for the thread but I did mine in under 5 mins. You don't need to go anywhere near the fuse box.

Instead of SAVVY, I use the app named "stealth assist". $10, and it communicates using Bluetooth. But...you need the Valentine Bluetooth accessory ($50) and you need to activate the stealth assist manually every time you enter the car. That said, stealth assist, has more features than SAVVY.

Does the 2 have the cigarette lighter port underneath the passenger foot well like the 3 series? I wired my V1 there - it gets tapped out by passengers occasionally but its easy enough to push in from the driver seat and didn't require any hard wiring (which is useful for a lease).

5 minute install.

Stealth display next to right leg. V1 mounted high against roof liner as not to be so conspicuous in the middle of windshield or mounted under the mirror.

Sun Visor can be pulled down to hide V1.

I need this in my life. I'm pretty sure it will pay for itself in the first month I'm back from Europe. Ha ha. Nice install.

If you use Savvy, it provides the power. No need to tap into mirror or go to the fusebox.

I tried using the mirror tap but the pins weren't holding in the molded plug. Went to the savvy. It worked out better because I used a splitter in the ACC port to connect my concealed display and mute button. I just hid the connections under the panel under the steering column by the knee airbag

Mine was done myself, 10-15 minutes tops - mirror mount.
Now I'm going to install the concealed/stealth display next, so I have to go back up there and shove more wires around... I used to like putting it in the far corner of the dash, so you see it while driving. Those putting concealed displays into the footwell area, you guys have to take eyes off road to see it...

I agree the mirror tap makes it look sharp, but a big thing for me is having a mute button close to the shift knob so im not constant reaching up to mute the RD. But I also dont want the cord constantly in my way. What do you guys suggest?

  • V1 power adapter in the trunk, fuse tapped off the the back side of the lighter socket fuse.
  • 4-wire line from the unit socket in the adapter to the v1, run under the right side floor edge, up the door seal, and across the front windshield edge to the V1, mounted high and to the right of the rearview mirror. There's enough room to run it completely hidden.
  • 4-wire line from the acc socket in the adapter to the remote display, run under the left side floor edge, up the dash edge to wherever you want to place the display. There's enough room to run it completely hidden.
Under 30 minutes to set mine up this way. I subsequently removed the remote display, as I wasn't happy with the look of the remote display anywhere where I didn't have to shift my head around to see it.
