I have this. It works pretty well.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I don't get any visuals or control over the phone or anything, but it works smoothly and I get spotify without hiding my phone in the center console (and forgetting it there every. single. time. I get out of the car) **edit** And I wanted to add that it plays nicely with bluetooth phone calls. I wasn't sure when I bought it if there would be conflict between this bluetooth and the car when I got a call, but it pauses the music and uses the car's onboard system for the call and then switches back when I hang up. Nice and seamless. (Android - Nexus 5, btw) Last edited by Uridian; 10-30-2014 at 04:27 PM.. |

Sounds fine, at least when competing with road noise and stuff. I'm having a small distortion issue when my phone volume is all the way up, but I don't know if that's my phone hardware, software, or the bluetooth adapter. Turn the volume on the phone down a notch or two and it sounds just as good as plugging in an aux cable.
Now, the rattling of my rear deck? That's another story altogether. |

Did you get the enhanced usb and smartphone integration package? It's separate from the tech package. If you did you should be good to go without buying anything

I did basically the same thing with the addition of the cradle. It all plays nicely with the BMW system, you just pair to both bluetooth things at once. If you are listening to Pandora or Spotify while using iPhone GPS, for instance, it will play the music then announce the turn by turn directions as appropriate, then if a call comes in switch to BMW bluetooth to handle call then go right back to Pandora or whatever.

I didn't need the nice setup you had going since I just drop my phone in the cup holder and go. More and more, though, I want to mount my phone to the vent. A buddy of mine has this and it looks really nice and secure and unobtrusive. Thinking about picking it up. http://www.amazon.com/Kenu-Airframe-...t+phone+holder |

I see a aux cable...Does the phone has to be plugged into this at all times?

No. The bluetooth receiver plugs into the USB port for power at all times, and the aux cable goes from the receiver to the aux port. Easy peasy, except that means the usb port is taken so you can't plug in to charge your phone. BEM-S4's setup solves that problem by putting a USB hub in there.

It goes away if you turn down the AUX volume. But the thing that bothers me the most is the lost of low frequency... I think I may stick the AUX cable despite the convenience. |

I wanted to check back in here. I was curious about your statement "...the lost of low frequency...".
I had been feeling like the audio wasn't as full as it felt originally, but I was wondering if I had just gotten used to it. It was WAY better than the Focus it replaced, so maybe that's why it sounded so good. But I unplugged from the bluetooth adapter and plugged directly back into the phone, and WOW! Night and day. That adapter totally kills the lows. I'm plugged back into to aux once again, though it is very inconvenient. Also, the 228i is in the shop (drivetrain malfunction), and I'm driving a loaner 328i with the tech package, and there is no such loss in the low frequency over the native BMW enhanced bluetooth. That's sort of a bummer, so I'm going to look for a better bluetooth solution soon. |

For drives that I don't need to turn up the music or when I have passengers, it's fine. But when I am by myself I use the AUX cord to enjoy the quality sound lol. If this is the case, please keep us updated! |

You can just code this. Provided you have the combox in your trunk (which I believe all M235i have if you don't have tech package). The combox is the hardware for enhanced bluetooth (music via bluetooth).
Read this thread to get the info - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=928616 You don't have to pay the 200 for this just find someone who can help with coding or code it yourself if you know/learn how.

This product rocks!

The biggest improvement was bluetooth music streaming over Pandora, Amazon, and Google. I still have BMW bluetooth paired the telephone because the mic locations on the car are much better than the phone itself. This thing just saved me a lot of money as I was considering the well known amp upgrade and the well known speaker upgrade that everyone here knows about. Money well spent: $65 vs. $1,000s. I can see why BMW and the amp and speaker vendors do not want anyone to find out about this. And it all works without coding!
