TRACK PADS

I was wondering if anyone here has found and tried road course pads for the 235?

The stock pads are OK for light track duty with RBF, but remain very much a compromise.

I dislike having to adjust my driving for fade – I want strong, consistent braking every time, so I can concentrate on driving.

So far, the only pads I’ve found that should fit are PAGIDs (Part #s 4931 (F) and 4933 (R)). I would want them in the Yellow RS29 compound, but they are not presently available from PAGID or Turner.

I’ve looked into the other popular brands (Hawk, Carbotech, PFC, Porterfield, EBC, etc.) with no luck.

Has anyone been more successful?

Thanks for your info.

I use Endless MX72 pads along with Endless RF650 fluid, and braided SS lines. Combination is excellent.

Have you also looked into other models with the same brakes. I'm not entirely positive, but the M Performance brakes seem to be shared across a few different models, including the F8X. I believe the only difference for the F8X series is discs and calibration?

According to Turner Motorsport, the PAGID pads also fit the BMWs listed below, but I have yet to get independent confirmation.

2014+ F22 BMW M235i

While the M3/M4 actually use totally different calipers, they do in fact use the same brake pads F&R as the 2/3-Series M Sport brakes. Pretty smart on BMW's part. Because these cars are new there aren't too many options yet but you will start to see all your favorite pad options become available pretty quickly I'd guess.

Can anyone confirm that pads that fit the 2012+ F30 BMW 335i 335xi FRONT (all brake packages - stock, M Sport, M Performance) & REAR (2-piston M Sport or M Performance calipers only) also fit the M235i ?

The reason I ask, is that some brands already list pads for these F30 335...

The MX72 compound is a street and light track pad (as is our stock pads). What do you use it for?

Street and a couple of track days per month.

I am too lazy to switch out my pads every time I go to the track, and a true race pad won't work worth shit until up to operating temperature making it useless on the street.

The endless were the best compromise for me.

How do they compare to the stock pads? Do they fade less?

I guess I'll revive this thread when it gets closer to spring, as the various brands should list the m235i by then, AND the people tracking their cars will have done more research.....

Can anyone confirm this? Also, how much better are they than the stock M235i pads? Can't stand stock pads. I had better stock pads on my E90!

They fit, but are loud, ebc Yellowstuff are good for dd and track, really any performance pad is better for dd. Stock pads are good for the trash can. They feel like wet sponges...

Seconded. EBC yellows are very good and very reasonably priced.

Thanks for the input. So besides noise, were the the Pagids good?

How did the yellowstuff do on the track? Any fade?

Also, has Anyone tried these:

Front M Sport Brake Pads (Set) - F30 335i, F32 435i (M Sport S2NHA)
Part #: 34116865460 (34-11-6-865-46

On the Turner site it is indicated as an upgrade to the stock M235i pads?

This brake pad set is an upgrade on the following BMWs:

2014+ F22 BMW M235i, M235xi

I'm not sure if you understand how loud the pagids are. Think busted ass school bus or train from 1885. Also, they really do not work well when cold. Like code brown on a cold emergency stop.

The yellows are great for double duty. They'll fade if you thrash them really hard (they still aren't dedicated track pads), but are a huge upgrade over stock.

I'm not that familiar with Pagids. I used to use Hawk HT-10s (blue ones) as well as the Hawk HP Plus. The HT-10 squeaked a lot - sounds like a schoolbus. But admittedly took some time to warm up.

Code Brown is pretty funny...unless it's happening for real.

I'll look into the Yellowstuff - for dd duty. These pads are top loaders so I can easily swap them out on track days.

Anyone check out the other BMW pads that Turner listed?

BTW, anyone run stainless brake lines? Did they help?

Also, on this brake topic, what fluid have you guys used that is a good compromise between track use and DD (I change my fluid at least once a year).

I use either ATE 200 or Motul RBF600. The issue is while these don't boil on the track, they don't last long for dd since they tend to absorb water faster.

Thanks!

I have challenge stainless lines and ATE 200 fluid.

The lines are nice, they firm up there pedal a bit. ATE 200 fluid is good, and not as hydrophilic as some more aggressive fluids, but doesn't boil with prolonged breaking.

Cool. Where did you buy your EBC pads and brake lines?

Also were the lines a pain to install?
