JB4

Just had a JB4 installed, running in map 5, no other mods other than CP and BOV
Definitely pulls harder then stock but not super hard
Does it take a day or two to adjust? or could the set up on the JB4 be incorrect? I read something about needing a flash to advance the timing?

From what others say on the forum, you need to turn traction control off and do three runs wide open throttle (WOT) in third gear from 2k rpm to redline.

By that stage it will have learned and auto tuned to your car.

I find that map 5 can be hit and miss. I tried it in comparison to map 1, and a few times it felt a bit slower, then suddenly it was fast and then back to average again.

I've haven't tried it since installing downpipes, but it did feel very edgy on stock car - and I'm having trouble getting that edginess back again.

Running map 2 now that I've installed downpipes and always have run 98 octane. I might try a little bit of e85 soon, which will require map 5 though.

I'm having issues with waste gate rattles since installing downpipes, so have now resorted to fiddling with waste gate settings and can't say I'm entirely happy with where it's at yet.

I feel like the car isn't as responsive as it was when I had just the JB4 (stock airbox, stock charge pipe, stock downpipes).

Honestly, for the amount of pain and headaches that installing downpipes caused, I really don't think they were worth it yet. I'm hoping that I'm proven wrong soon, but we'll see.

I remember running map5 once in stock form, and when I tried overtaking a truck one time I had to lift off as I nearly rear-ended due to the boost coming on so much quicker than I expected.

I've since got the cone intakes, aluminium charge pipe, and 3" downpipes, and I don't feel it has anywhere near the neck jerk response it had on a good day with map 5 + stock. Go figure.

Thanks again.... I was planning next mod to be a set of DPs but not so sure now, Ill get the 3rd gear WOT a go and see if it gets the JB4 to kick in

Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm a ways off getting a JB4 but food for thought.

Not sure if you're referring to me - but I meant the downpipes I'm not totally please by yet.

The JB4 was and still is the best $600 I've ever spent on cars altogether. I'm sure other tunes out there would do similar, but the 335 is so underrated in it's factory form.

If theres one mod you need to get its the JB4.

Update: Took your advice Scotty and did 3 x 3rd gear red line runs with DTC off... In 3rd gear redlined at 140K and ran out of road
Made a big difference thanks
Highly recommend, jb4... don't expect it to go from stock to supercar but it is definately a level up, meater, pulls much harder and a much bigger turbo lag effect (but that is probably because you notice the turbos kick in now)
Anyone on the fence should just do it and look like this ()

When my O2 sensors want to work properly and allow me to hit 15psi airs great, been running with JB4 off till my O2 sensors arrive from the U.S. and I've gotten used to just DP's and DCI on stock boost, needless to say, can't wait till my boost is back

Jb4 + downpipes + e85 map5 is lovely
I don't get traction until end of 2nd which means I'm spinning rears at 100-110
kmh.

Without WOT it doesn't do that. Map5 must do wot, especially if ur running some e85

I haven't had the balls to run e85 on the n54 with jb4 (original fuel pump).... However am extremely curious about the power gain!

Anyone got rwkw dyno for say jb4 and jb4 with e85?

Maybe Scotty, from what Socket was saying, the DPs really help with turbo lag? Curious as to the decision of BOV vs DV. From what I'd heard before is that a DV is basically a BOV that's set to recirculate. Is this correct? Meaning that any BOV bought with the ER CP can do the same job just cheaper? I'mnot a fan of venting to atmosphere.
