Exhaust valve open mod - How To Video - F80 F82 F83 M3 and M4

Whipped this up today while doing the exhaust valve mod. It is so easy I don't know why anyone needs a video...but just in case.

Nice...what did you tape the connector to, the harness? What kind of tape did you use, electrical?

TIA.

Well...I love mine but my wife has instituted a no food/drink policy in hers and I get berated if I drag my feet on the door sills

Basically I taped up the connector with electrical tape and then looped it through on itself a couple times. Another idea would be to use a ziplock bag around the connector and harness and tape it up around the opening. I did that with a wide band sensor for a while under my Miata until I needed it.

I'll have to report back on that. So far no lights. Maybe someone else who has had the mod for longer can chime in?

I'm a little curious how it might affect MPG in part throttle low rpm.

Well considering I always drive in sport cuz I wanted the open valves, my mpg should go up now since I can drive in efficient mode and have the sound!

Thanks a lot mi amigo!

Really nice! Thanks for the Explanation!
But isn't it like the valves should be closed during cold start, that the cats can warm up faster?! Shouldn't make a big difference, but it would mean that it takes a little longer until the components have reached their working temperature, right?

Not sure. I'm getting a 1-1.5mpg discrepancy between computer and actual mileage. My wife F80 does not have the mod and her computer/actual is only off by 0.5mpg or so.

I don't recall how accurate mine was before. I will keep an eye on this. Overall I seem to have the same average MPG per tank (indicated) as I did before.

Can anyone comment on whether this voids any warranty/OK to perform on a leased car? (assuming put back into place before returning)

Any issues when getting service done?

I can't say for sure but I would be shocked considering you aren't materially altering the parts.
