Backup camera failure

Anybody else having a problem with their backup camera? Mine has seemed to have died. I just get a black screen now with no image. It happened a few days ago and has been consistently not working. I've tried turning it off and on with the same results.

I guess I'll have to make my first trip to the dealer since I got the car at the end of March, but wondering if there is a wide spread issue.

Only time my camera hasn't came on is when I didn't get the trunk closed all the way. If it's not completely closed, the camera won't work.

Did your dash warn of an OPEN TRUNK at those times the camera didn't work ?

No open trunk warnings, and day 3 of no back-up camera. It comes up, black screen and turns off as it should once I move forward. I think it's DOA!

Was someone messing with you and tape over the lens with electrical tape? Unlikely, but worth checking as that would be really funny haha

Doubtful, but I can take a look. Where is the lense located? I did get a car wash on Saturday which was after the issue first came up, so it can't be a dirty lense anymore.

Above the rear license plate ( next to trunk handle ) is a black piece about 15mm square -that is the camera

Thanks, found it. It was completely clean. Probably just have a bum camera.

Just a follow-up after my trip to the dealer. Turns out my iDrive display settings got changed somehow and it was strictly a display issue. They changed contrast and brightness on the display and all is fine. Not sure how that happened as it worked fine, backed into a spot,parked, then when I got back to my car it was no longer displaying (just got a black screen). All is fine now though.

Looking thru my iDrive I did not see anything associated with back-up camera adjusts on the menus. Anyone know where these settings are located?
