Question Why does the power stay on after I turn off the car

I press the engine stop button and my V1, which is connected to the cigarette lighter, stays on. On my E92 M3, it used to always turn off. Does it ever turn off?

Press the on/off button one more time lightly to turn all the other stuff like radio off if you have already switched off the engine. Alternatively, hold your finger longer on the on/off switch while the engine is running to shut everything off with one button push. I think this should work but haven't used the V1 with this new car so I may be wrong.

I did this. When the radio is off, the cigarette lighter power stays on still.

Ok, too bad that didn't work. Hopefully, someone else will chime in if there is a way to do this.

You're welcome! Glad I could help. Hopefully someone can find an answer to help the OP with the cigarette lighter issue.

From what others have said, the "hold the on/off button trick" no longer works on the F8X.

I drive an F30 and I leave the radio on when I'm unloading the groceries etc. Once I lock it, the radio and everything shuts down. Hence I never specifically turn off the radio or any other system when I leave the car. It all will shut down when I lock it.

Dang. That used to work on my e92. I've been doing the push once to turn off engine and push a second time to turn the radio off in the m4. It's a shame that the holding it down for a longer period doesn't work on the m4.

I had a radar detector for a bit in my f80, plugged into the socket, the power never seemed to go out. I ended up having to power down and up the unit with it's own power switch, till I returned the unit. I don't think these plugs have an on/off function.

Agreed. Mine does the same thing. Never timed it but it does shut off eventually and will turn back on if I unlock the car/open the door.

Interesting. The on/off button double tap should do it if it shuts down everything else, which the OP says it doesn't turn off the plug. Mine did stay on but I never sat there to see what happened after a couple of minutes. I guess the OP, if motivated, will just have to go back to the car after 10, 20, etc, minutes to see. Frankly, it is weird these cars don't just shut down fully when turned off on the initial button press.

If you push the start/stop button when the car is in "N"(neutral) the engine stops, but the ignition is still on. If you push the button when the car is in "D" or "R' the engine stops AND the ignition is switched off. The power outlets will go off after a couple of minutes both ways

"Double clicking" the on/off button just turns the engine back on for me.

I had mine coded so the electronics go off when I open the door. I don't lock the car in my garage so for me I prefer everything to go off once I open the door.
