M4 at WHP East Track again

Had both cars (E36 M3 track car and F82) at Wild Horse Pass East again this weekend. Drove the M4 a little more the E36 because quite frankly I was having fun with it. The more I drive this car on the track the more I love it.

Driving with all nannies off is the way to go, no bad behaviors with this car. You can really toss it around the track, easy to recovery if it gets out of shape.

Video from Sunday in advanced DE. Trying to keep up with race prepped cobra kit car through traffic. My M4 is stock except for carbotech pads and R888 tires. Best lap time 1:05.498

Very nice. So, how did the R888s perform? temps, pressures, wear?

R888s were great, very refreshing using them after getting used to the silent DOT slicks I use on the E36.

Pressures are constantly adjusting. Was shooting for 36psi hot so started with 30 all around. Overshot to 42 in left front tire first session, pretty much having to let air out after every session as the day got warmer and I pushed the car harder. Had it dialed in by the end of the day. Annoying thing is that on the ride home the pressures decrease, so the low tire pressure warnings go off of course. The next morning when it really cool the left front read 23psi.

Don't have a pyrometer, but the car info readout said temp was 172 degrees for the left front at one point. Was pushing the car pretty hard, the brakes were smoking after the sessions and I had to wear gloves to check tire pressures as my gauge was getting hot.

Brakes: I switched to SRF and put SS lines on before this event. Brakes did better, but still got a little bit of a softer pedal about 12-15 minutes in to the sessions. Must of overfilled the SRF as it was leaking out the top of the reservoir, so maybe the had something to do with it?
