Got a ticket for no plate

Hi!

I live in San Francisco and, yesterday, I got a ticket for not having a plate in the front of my car. I have the car since April and always park it in the street so I'm little surprised to get the ticket only now.

Should I bother and resign myself to have a front plate? If yes, what's the best mounting options?

Gotten a few over the years. Not an expensive ticket to just pay if you want.

I've been wondering the same (San Jose). A lot of people I asked about it said they had never been stopped or ticketed for not having a front plate, so I took the risk too. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I went serveral months before I broke down and installed mine. Didn't really bother me after the install.

Another vote for the US Millworks front plate bracket. Had one on my 135 and made sure the dealer doesn't drill my bumper for a plate on my M235. Very solid yet easily removable.

I've never been pulled over in my BMW for not having a front plate, but the meter maids will get you. I had one give me a ticket at a metered spot, even though I had paid the meter. They don't care. They should perish unnaturally.

I am in SJ and still rock the Euro plate in the front. My previous car I ran Euro plates in the front and back for about 6 months without trouble. I think cops usually would only give you crap if you get pulled over for other things like speeding.

I emailed them about that. Under options, there is one that says WITH PDC. So I'm not sure whether it is good or not. It's a bit confusing.

I also live in SF. You will continue to get front plate tickets if you park on the street.

I have m235i with PDC and was able to position the U.S. Mill Works kit so it rarely trips the sensors. Do not get the quick release kit though, as this causes the sensors to be tripped constantly

I've had five of them over last two years in MD. They are not considered moving violations, more of a nuisance tax. Just pay them and maybe look for another route. I kept being pulled over by the same Officer at the same place.

Here's another solution that I'm using if you're not a fan of the off center look. I don't leave mine on permanently though and only when I park on the street.

Let me know if it continues to not trigger PDC. Mine is on and off, although I absolutely never could get it right with the quick release. Has to remove it and go without it.

I have the quick release and I can't find a good position that doesn't constantly trip the PDC. Tomorrow I'm going to give it a try without the quick release.

You'll have better success with this. It never worked 100% for me with the quick release

I too live in the SF Bay Area. I ended up putting the plates on. The SFMTA (meter maids) are instructed to write up cars without the front plates. A friend in Walnut Creek also got tagged with missing front plates. The counties are looking for any excuse to drum up any sort of revenue.
