M3 needed in bergen county?

Would any members be willing to maybe stop by my house in South Bergen County to ensure the M will have sufficient clearance into my driveway? I've considered test driving a 335 to see, but the M seems to sit lower and I could have a false negative if trying with 335. I know it's a ballsy request, but figured to be worth a try.

Oh please, make @wah do this and I'll pay you for it! He's such a pussy with his that I would want the clip of him crying while driving on anything else but perfect tarmac.

@wah, help the guy out, will ya?

The dude is a really good friend of mine but such a baby when it comes to his car! Of course I take the chance to ruin his day, and he has almost a week off now, so no excuses can be tolerated. I cant wait to see how happy this thread will make him

Before someone drives over, why not post a picture first so we can see how how close of a call it is. My driveway is pretty ugly itself and I have only had problems with the flaps that hang in the front rubbing. But I am probably pretty close to you, so I might be able to. Although if its a real close call, I wouldn't want to test it directly.

Completely understand this. In my opinion, with the shortish front overhang the front will likely not scrape. I'm concerned about the middle of the car - figuring that with a slow approach it would be obvious if the car is going to high-point on the sidewalk without needing to get to the point that it will make contact if driven all the way in. Does this make any sense? I've had the sidewalk and apron re-poured in the past so that the sidewalk itself sits lower with respect to the street level than the other driveways on my block - but I have never had a true sports car - one low enough to make me actually concerned about scraping. I'll post some photos a bit later this week if I can - unfortunately by the time I leave my office daily it is dark out at this time of year. Thanks for the input!

Pics from just a few minutes ago. In the first one you can see shadowing on the sidewalk on the near side - this is where the driveway/skirt dip down to lower their difference from the street compared to the surrounding homes. I know they're dark, but I'll try to get some photos this weekend in the daylight which may be better. Thanks all.

Photos all seem to be posting upside down, but on computer and in the manage attachments, when opened, they are oriented properly. Link to imgur album showing same photos with proper orientation is below if anyone wants to see.

It looks fine... completely doable. Its the condition of your street that is more of a concern. Where in Bergen county is this? I'm actually in central NJ now, so as much as @Lups would like me to scratch my bumper to match Peter's battle wounds, I'm not trekking up there... sorry lol.

Yeah, there's been construction at the end of my street, where it is a sort of cul-de-sac/parking lot. The entrance to the street coming towards my house isn't bad at all. Streets around here haven't been great since last winter honestly, but were improved at a decent rate before this winter began. I'm in the Giants stadium (MetLife...) area.

I can't blame you for not making the ride, I'm sure to be a bit anal retentive once mine arrives. I am fairly confident there will be other F80 M owners in the area who will materialize before my order goes past the point of no return. Where in Central Jersey are you at? Are the roads much better?

Driving central to north jersey is more complicated than it sounds. Still haven't run into any F80 owners in the wild where striking up conversation was feasible. I wish the snow/salt hadn't started as the two meets I go to with some frequency both tend to dry up as soon as salt hits the roads; can't blame them either.

Its a little hard to tell the angle of decline right after the sidewalk, but looking at where the garage is, it doesn't look too steep. I might be able to stop by this weekend (most likely Sunday, as Saturday is kids sports, etc) if you want to PM me your address. I think the M3 is only slightly lower than cars like the 335 or S4. I've touched bottom twice, once going over a huge speed bump and the other was taking the car camping and going over a large rock. In both cases there was some scary scraping but nothing that has impacted the car's performance (which has been in for service since then and nothing was mentioned).

Thanks.*

I'm down by Freehold... the roads here are smooth and paved, but like everywhere else in NJ, lots of cars and lots of cops. I did find one road that would allow someone to hit triple digits easily, but I'm a law abiding citizen and would never drive over the speed limit.
