Remap booked...

Hi guys,

Booked my M235i in with DMS this morning for a remap.

They are collecting the car Thursday and dropping back to me on Monday... Will give a report and post some rolling road numbers then.

DMS have advised to expect gains of around 400bhp and 415lb ft of torque... Pretty excited to say the least!

Anybody else remapped their M235i yet?

Four hundred HP??? Wow man, with just a remap and no other mods? Call me skeptical, but for me that's hard to believe. But I would be very happy if you shut my skepticism up with proof of those gains

I'm skeptical also... but DMS have informed me that they have completed 3 remaps already on m235i's and they are averaging those numbers...

I'm more interested in the torque numbers... 415 is more than the M4...

Will definitely be reporting back with the dyno report.

Second company to offer re-maps for the F22... sign of good things to come?

It's also the second international... bring these to us lowly Americans!

Looks to be about $1500 USD that is 25% cheaper than some other companies who would charge you that much for 50% less power.

actual price is £1250 + vat [@ 20%] which equates to circa US$2350.

I had DMS remap my NA e46 330i ~13 years ago and they squeezed about another 30bhp out of the motor at the crank. Fuelling foibles were gone making the car smoother and more responsive. Add oomph was noticeable everywhere in the rev range.

I would have gone with DMS again for my e91 335i and now my F20 but chose p/back ECU for turbocharged cars as its more adjustable than a remap + you get more bang for your buck.

On the FB page they show info about M135is [blue 402bhp and white 391bhp] only, no mention of any M235is being mapped.......I look fwd to reading OP's impressions of his/hers remapped car.

Hi all,

Just to keep you all updated...

DMS collected my car yesterday and will be returning it Monday (if all goes to plan!). They have advised that in order to speed things up and ensure I get the car back for Monday that they will provide me with a dyno graph after the map instead of before and after - which I am okay with.

Again they claimed the above numbers, however did advise they are achieving slightly less BHP with the sports auto box, torque numbers are quoted above are more than the stock torque numbers of the M4.

Most importantly they have advised that it should feel and in fact be faster off the mark than my previous C63 coupe!

Will update you all Monday/Tuesday!

PS - price was £1500 inc. VAT

I am sorry but I don't understand if they have the car since yesterday that doing a dyno prior to flash (takes 30 minutes at most) is speeding up the process if they have the car for 4+ days

Dean,

Dynoing the car ahead of remapping takes an hour at the most !!! Sorry, I don't buy that from DMS. If it was my car, I would insist on a before dyno or else you wont have a benchmark to compare gains after remapping.

Just my 2p worth.

Look fwd to reading your findings once car is back from DMS.

Season's greetings to all,

BP.

Hi guys,

DMS advised the before dyno would take at least 4 hours, as they first have to get to the ECU, which apparently is awkward to get to based on its location, they then advised they would need to run the dyno test which they advised would take about 90 minutes.

Never had a car remapped before so not sure if Im being led down the garden path on this one, but from what I can tell DMS are possibly the well respected tuning company in the UK so would hope they know what they're doing...

Couldn't I take the gains from the stock numbers? Surely they wont vary that much?

Depends on how much BMW underrated the engine. Probably would find crank output stock is closer to 350 than 326, likewise with torque. Anyway, really interested to see what they can do with it remap only. I'm sure any gains will be plenty of fun!

I have been looking at remap options as well, DMS came up as one of the better companies. So like others keen to get your feedback.

You switched from a C63, was it a coupe? Cos that's what I intended to get but a good deal on the M235i won me over. Still think that engine may have been more of an occasion to drive.

I was interested in following this thread untill this post. DMS not wanted to do a before dyno is a joke. You have no solid proof of your gains since every dyno reads differently. They could've jacked up the numbers for all we know.

On the other hand, see if you can get a WHP not BHP

Hi all,

Quick update -

DMS dropped the car off this evening. Full dyno reports will be emailed to me tomorrow, however I have attached a bhp one below!

BHP - 415
Torque - 440lb ft.

Took the car for a very quick spin, it feels lightening fast. Will be able to report more tomorrow once Ive given it a good drive...

Sounds good! Is transmission longevity a concern to any of you getting remaps/ engine work done? The 8HP45 is supposedly on its limit stock @ 450 nm. So thats 150nm beyond that (although it will have massive redundancy headroom). Is it enough of a power increase where you'd be wary to try launch control with it?

This whole thread is a waste if there is no before dyno. Period.

I learned that when I got dyno'd on a Mustang Dyno, only after the mods, no stock.

I could run around all day saying the JB4, and downpipe got me to 470hp!!!! OMG!?
