How to check what FRM you are running?

As above, is there an easy way to check what FRM you have?

Best way is obviously to visually check it or by some diagnostic software.

However you can make an educated guess by your vehicle manufacture date as long as a newer FRM hasn't been retrofitted.

As I understand it:

FRM1 (FRM87) - pre 03/2007
FRM2 (NFRM FRM70) - post 03/2007
FRM3 - post 09/2009

Those dates aren't confirmed, they are off the top of my head. There is also an FRM3 MAX BROSE.

Cheers dude, from this

im assuming that I have frm1. What doesn't make sense is that I have things like puddle lights working which from a search says shouldn't work?

Mind you that most of FRM2 sold on ebay are faulty.
Out of 5 which I have fitted for forum members, 3 of them were faulty.
Only 2 forums members were lucky to have non-faulty one.
If you buy one off ebay, make sure you install it sooner to check.

BMW mini parts was selling FRM3 for £120. AFAIK, BMW has stopped making FRM2 now.
FRM3 is not compatible with some early 2005-2007 cars.

Keep your eye on the forum as if a forum member sells FRM2, it is better to buy one from them as you can return if it turns out to be faulty.

Yes, at least XE. If you have AHL then XE AHL.
