Modified Tow Hook Cover & Strap Install
The modified tow hook cover is a little product we have been providing for years. For those of us that daily drive the car or are looking for a clean look on our weekend track toy, the modified cover provides a nice clean factory look to a bumper rigged with the tow strap. This is among the easier DIY's out there, but we know it is always nice to see how things are done before heading out to the garage. Step 1: BMW makes removal of the tow hook cover easy. Simply apply pressure to the arrow on the bottom of the cover and remove. If your tow hook cover has a safety strap, give that a gentle tug to release from the bumper. Step 2: Thread-in the tow strap until tight. This may bring the strap in a non-horizontal position. Ever so slightly loosen the strap until it parallel to the ground. Step 3: This is step is more of a preference, but we like to push the majority of the strap into the bumper. This will result in about 30% of the strap being exposed. Step 4: Take the modified tow hook cover and slip over the strap. At this point in time it is wise to push the securing strap through the receptacle hoop. Step 5: Push the cover in and you are done.
