AFE IntakeWorth It?

Hi All,

I a full bolt on M235i with a BMS intake but I'm wondering if the AFE Stage 2 SI Intake would be worth swapping that out for? It seems like these intakes are a bit more finished and I'm just curious for opinions. I appreciate the input in advance.

I brought up the same question sort of when shopping around for my intake and what I took from it was the main difference between intakes was the open box versus closed box. I finally settled on the aFe Magnum, though originally I was going to go with the Momentum. It was recommended to me that if I wanted to save a bit of money then go with the BMS intake, but if I were looking for something that looked a bit better under the hood, go with aFe Magnum. Hope this helps a bit.

That is how I understood it and it sort of makes sense, but I could be wrong. There is a thread here that compares the different intakes if you're interested in reading up there. I will try and find it.

One owner with the BMS Intake loss power when he installed the Dinan Stage 1. Might be how the tuning for the Dinan was programmed though. I run the aFe Momentum and think it was the best choice, as bias as that is.

If I had neither I would go and went with the AFE. If I had already spent the cash on the BMS I would not throw any more money at it.

Perhaps it is time to throw it on a dyno, get some data logs and add some corn?

Thanks for the input guys. I'll probably hold on to it for now and we shall see down the line.
