F30 is growing on myself.

I have not driven one, butI have a feeling I will end up prefering the looksm

I will most likely get an e92 M3 after this (or settle for a 335i, and then step up).

My main problem with the F30 is the steering. It's electronic and doesn't provide the same feedback as previous models. It's kind of a big deal. I also prefer the iDrive in the E9X platform over the appearance of the F30s. Aside from that, the new 4 cylinder turbo is actually quite powerful in the 328i, haven't driven an F30 335i yet though.

Aside from the steering, the 4-cylinder doesn't provide me enough audio oomph as I liked in my I6 in my E90, but that's just my two cents.

I was an early F30 "hater" but I've come around to like the car the more time I've spent in F30 loaners.

The 328 with the new 2.0 turbo surprisingly hauls ass for what it is and the 8-speed auto is amazing.

Looks weren't that great to me at first, but as I've seen more on the road and especially with the lighting package, they really do have some presence. This will be a controversial statement, but I think they have more presence than the E90.

Interior is fine, even really good in my book, as long as you don't have the base package. Luxury, sport, or M-sport lines improve the interior a lot.

The steering was awful at first, but it's okay now with the chassis set to sport. Steering is still the worst part of the F30 to me, but it's been fixed to the point where I'd be happy with it once I got used to it.

I can easily see myself in an F30 if I'm in a position to buy one. Though by the time I'm ready to buy again, the next generation may be out too.

I like the f30 styling, but once you factor in the price, I certainly don't like it 3 times more than my e90...

Exactly, got an F30 Monday while my E90 is being serviced, feel the same way.

I had the F30 320, 328, and 335. I honestly don't really like the body styling on the F30, looks pretty much line anything else on the road today.. Does not stand out and look aggressive like the E90 originally did.
320= no frills, no thrills. I would much rather get a 6 cylinder Accord than this. Is it a bad car, no but it would not even glance at it if I was in the market to buy another car today.
328= pretty peppy, interior still felt a little cheap and the halogen headlights are ridiculously outdated.
335= Car was quick and I loved the red trim in the interior but again the body styling didn't do it for me.

Oh I also did like that the idrive system in the F30 allowed me to listen to music via bluetooth right from my Iphone.

E90Post seems like a great place to get unbiased answers on the subject.

I like the upgraded tech of the F30, but I'm not really a huge fan of the styling. Seems like the car got unnecessarily "bigger", as you can see below. Not a fan at all of the larger, bulging hood, and the headlights that connect to the grilles.

Hydraulic steering will trump electronic steering in terms of road-feel, and there have been objective studies done that show the new F30 chassis is softer and geared more towards luxury than performance. See: http://blog.caranddriver.com/a-tale-...-so-different/

Obviously CIC iDrive is improved upon by the new NBT iDrive. The change isn't nearly as drastic as CCC -> CIC, especially 2011+ models that got CIC with the Combox. Still, there are notable improvements on that front. The Sport interior of the F30 doesn't feel any cheaper than the E90 interior, but the NBT iDrive screen does feel like an afterthought. The E90 interior is cold and sterile, and I love that about it, but some people think it lacks character. The F30 fixes that, I think.

One the whole, the F30 will be more reliable (N55), more luxurious, more tech-oriented, a touch less sporty, and will feel a little less BMWey, if that means anything to you.

Not my cup of tea, really hoping an F30 LCI changes things up a bit.

e90 of course. The f30 looks pretty sweet slammed, but I prefer the classic styling of the e90. Plus, you feel more engaged with the e90.

Just know the f30 is turbo'd so it's faster of course, but if you're not a speed freak the e90 is plenty fast.

I'm comparing the 328 that is.

Had 3 of them as loaners. Hated the F30 interior. Exterior I find just ok. Liked the 8speed auto and the car pulled ok for me, but having turbos for a long haul ownership worries me based on the turbo history with the 335.

Interior is boring and I feel has questionable design and ergonomic decisions. I HATE how the LCD just looks like an afterthought, it's plopped right onto the dash" and a few other things really bothered me interior wise. Even the gauge cluster is just boring on these newer BMWs.

For all those people here talking about F30's, are you referring to specific models, or the entire range as a whole (including say, a 335i MSport w/ adaptive suspension)

I drove all the models of the F30; 320, 328, and a fully loaded 335.

The F30 3 series (sedan) front is ugly for me

However I like the 4 series coupe more than I like the 3 series coupe. The look is more agresive

I thought the interior of my loaner was fine and I like the new body shape. I think the E90 and F30 both look good in their own way. The steering feel is terrible. That said, the steering performance is great and man does the auto transmission shift quick!

If they would sell me an f31 with RWD and a 6spd stick like my e91 I would buy one in a heartbeat. I find it usefully bigger, the look is pretty much the same, the engine tech is a leap ahead - more power and better fuel economy. I like the lighter steering - the e9x steering is heavy for no good reason. It's different, not worse.

The griping above is the EXACT SAME THING that has been said about every new generation of 3-series since the e21 replaced the 2002.

Ultimately, drive both, buy the one you prefer.

Personally, I am keeping my e91 and just ordered an M235i to go with it.
