2006 325i Cold heat in the front?
Hello, I have a 2006 325i which is currently blowing cold air in the front vents but the back vents are normal and hot. If I put the temperature completely up the heat will be hot but even a a degree less and it will be cold, this only happens through the front vents. I have tried searching but not much came up.
I have topped up coolant, checked the coolant temperature once car warms up and it is within range. I have disconnected and reconnected the dial in the trim that goes from blue to red as well and nothing has fixed the issue. If anyone has any ideas on what it can possibly be please share. Thanks for your help. |

It's a feature that prevents hot air always blowing in your face to help prevent driver fatigue. The windscreen and footwell vents will regulate hot air to keep you comfortable in the cabin. You can change this as you found out when you set the temperature at max as this tells the heater control that the driver wants to override this feature.

Sorry, I was not aware of the whole picture. Hmm...if that is the case then there could be an issue with your stratification control. However you would need a tester that is able to read body codes to confirm that.
In the past, I have come across vehicles that have had issues with the air flap motors getting freaked out and losing position initialization. This caused weird air flows and such. Also is heat distributed evenly when compared from the driver side to the passenger side? |

I probably should've made it clearer. The heat/air is distributed evenly and the stratification control does seem to function, if I place to blue (cold) it definitely gets even colder but on red it is not significantly hotter. Its normal in the back that's what I don't understand.

Hmm..it could be that one of the temp sensors are on the fritz. I'm going to have to test a few things out however i'll try and provide a valid answer for you tomorrow.

So I was fiddling around with a vehicle that is similar to yours. I have a feeling that your intensity wheel might be the fault. As the vehicle that I was testing did produce heat in a proper increments. However, it is hard for me to be sure as I am not in your vehicle. :/

By intensity wheel you mean the dial in the center near the dtc and hazard light? Also referred to as the stratification control?

Yes. If you have a friends car to compare it makes it easier to narrow things down. If your and your friends are more hands on and they don't mind you swapping it out and trying it then you can do that as well.
In anycase, let me know how it goes |

Mine does this too. I was wondering if there is something wrong or not.
